On behalf of all those involved in Redland Events, Marte and Dom pay tribute to Ms Armida "Tita Midz" Siguion-Reyna (RIP). She leaves behind a great legacy. Thank you Tita Midz for the opportunity and trust in bringinng your Aawitan Kita to Australia.

The Aawitan Kita (I'll Sing for You) was the first ever Philippine original operatta shown in Australia about Philippine culture and values. At the same time, it put in the public domain contemporary issues faced by the people of the Philippines. It was a perfect performance by the AK cast that moved audiences and made them proud of their Filipino heritage. Set in the Philippines in the 1880s, Noli Me Tangere is a love story – for a woman and a homeland – a story of Spanish suppression (350 years) and the kindling of Filipino revolution.
Directed by Aarne Neeme, this is a reading of the musical which is the story of Crisostomo Ibarra, a man who returns from Europe to the Philippines and wishes to build a school in his home village to help educate his people out of the slavery of ignorance under Spanish rule. Ibarra finds himself in bitter conflict with the priest who denied his father Christian burial and who is doing everything in his power to stop the romance between Ibarra and his beloved, the angelic Maria Clara de Los Santos.
The story also concerns Sisa, a village woman searching for her sons who disappeared and are feared murdered by an abusive local priest.

What a night it was! Thank you to all our guests who graced the Opening Night of the Life Expressions with Papercuts art exhibition by Miguel Castro. A special thanks to Willoughby Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney who opened the exhibition, Philippine Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis and artist Georgina Hart for their inspiring words. Miguel's way of thanking guests through songs was very well received.

The ambiance of the exhibition was aptly described by the Mayor when she said she was "awestruck" by the beauty of it all!

Thanks to guests who have sent photos of the Opening. We welcome your "expressions" and generosity in sharing them.

It’s happening! The first ever paper cutting art exhibition is officially opening tonight! Artwork by Miguel Castro will be exhibited at the Art Space on The Concourse, Chatswood. Our multi-talented artist will also be holding small group sessions in the evenings where he will discuss his artwork and perform a repertoire of serenades to express his inspiration for the art pieces.
