To every Actor thinking about starting their writing journey... ๐Ÿ‘‡๐ŸŽฌ

There is a common trap so many of us fall into. Because great screenwriting looks completely effortless when you read it or watch it on screen, itโ€™s easy to assume that writing is "easy."

You think: "I'll just sit down, think of two characters, and write down a casual conversation." But there is a massive difference between typing out text in script format and actually building a story out of thin air.

Structuring a series of events that makes sense, keeps an audience from getting bored, and delivers a genuine emotional kick is a tough gig. It requires looking past the surface and leaning into the actual craft of storytelling.

If youโ€™re an actor taking the leap into creating your own work, the journey starts now by listening to our conversation with Australian Screenwriter Chris Corbett.

That awkward moment you spend a day and a half rehearsing lines, lay down the self-tape with a reader, and send it offโ€ฆ only for the Director to gently point out you read for the little boy instead of the rugged farmer. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ’€

"And you made it work." ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Shoutout to the Director for being incredibly cool about it, but the absolute panic when I opened that email was next level.

Fellow actors, creatives, or anyone who has completely botched a high-stakes interview: please drop your worst mix-up stories in the replies so I don't feel entirely alone in my own thoughts today! ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ‘‡

"What is the character feeling on this line?" โŒ

According to casting director Greg Apps, this might be the most dangerous question you can ask yourself during script prep.

When you write emotions like "upset" or "angry" in your margins, you aren't living in the scene, you're just waiting for a cue to hit a pre-ordained feeling. The result? You end up acting the page, not the life of the character.

Throw away the highlighter, grab a black texta, and black out those emotional notes. ๐Ÿ–ค

Three days. One three-page scene. That is the legendary work ethic of Al Pacino. ๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ”ฅ

In this clip, Hollywood Acting Coach Ivana Chubbuck breaks down what truly separates the good from the great: the willingness to take massive risks and put in the relentless prep work.

As Al Pacino once beautifully put it: "I just make a lot of choices and I hope they work." If you arenโ€™t willing to fail, you arenโ€™t giving yourself the chance to be great.

To all the creatives and Actors out there, how much time are you willing to dedicate to a single scene? And for the movie buffs, what is your absolute favourite Al Pacino performances of all time?
