✨ Ancient Egypt in the Art Room ✨

Our Grades 0–4 artists at Art with Kari have been exploring the magic of Ancient Egypt 🐫

We experimented with a range of materials and styles:
🖤 Black paper with metallics for bold, eye-catching artworks.
📜 Brown paper inspired by traditional papyrus scrolls.
✍️ Hieroglyphics and symbolic storytelling.
🏜️ Desert landscapes and pyramids
🤍 And for those building confidence, simple cream paper pieces.

It’s been wonderful to see each child take their own creative path, from detailed storytelling to simple, thoughtful designs. Every artwork reflects imagination, learning, and growing confidence 🎨

🌊✨ Exciting News from the Studio ✨🌊

I’m currently adding the final touches to **30 original illustrations** for my **fourth colouring book** and it’s nearly ready for publication!

This collection is inspired by my personal **scuba diving experiences** bringing together storytelling, memory, and creativity in a truly special way. 🐠🐡🐟

Each piece has been:
✏️ Hand drawn on A3 paper
🧠 Created from memory
💙 Designed to feel soulful, quirky, and full of personality

These illustrations are intentionally a little “wonky” 😂🙌😂 celebrating imperfection, character, and the human touch behind every line.

This project has been incredibly energising and life-affirming to create, and I’m so excited to share it with you soon.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is pause... 🌊🌊🌊

This evening I’m sitting on the beach with my sketchbook on my lap, pencil softly scratching across the page ✏️📖

I’m working on a new drawing for my upcoming scuba diving inspired colouring book, six quirky little mermaids sitting in a circle, holding hands 🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️

After a couple of intensely busy months looking after family, friends and travelling, I’ve tucked myself into a little cocoon of quietness 🐚 to refocus on what matters most, my small family and my creative work.

There’s something deeply calming about the rhythm of the waves, the salt air, and the simple act of creating 🌊☀️🤩

Wherever you are today, I’m wishing you peace, clarity and a moment of calm in the middle of all the chaos around us 🕊️🕊️🕊️

Student Work Spotlight 🎨✨

Today, one of my gorgeous Year 2 artists surprised me with a quirky painted illustration of me — and I absolutely LOVE it! 🤩💞

The bold lines.
The vibrant personality.
The confidence to interpret and create so freely.

This is exactly why I’m so passionate about teaching art. When children are given the space to explore, take risks and express themselves, their creativity shines in the most beautiful ways.

Feeling very grateful to nurture these young creative minds 💕
