How do we EXPOSE DARKNESS??
By telling the truth.
What is the truth?
The truth is people are not meant to be alone.
The truth is we are meant to live in community
We need to stop believing lies that we don't need anyone else.
But that doesn't mean just be with anyone.
How do people end up living on the streets? For many reasons. Financial, sometimes running away from home, sometimes getting kicked out of home.
Sometimes kids run away from home because they don't believe they are loved at home, or they believe that they can find love somewhere else. Sometimes it is because of abuse.
And why do people abuse? A main reason for any abuse is the abuser wasn't loved.
Paedophiles weren't loved as children or were abused themselves.
No one is born bad. Everyone has a story.
I see traffickers as people who are sick and need help.
The world is broken.
The UGLY side of life is either being ignored or we become desensitized to it.
Let's get over being comfortable and wake up to the needs around us. Who knows? We could be saving someone's life just by being around!
Why are our lives more important than theirs? Why is it more important for us to live comfortably? Why is that the aim of life?
Some people become victims of trafficking because they BELIEVED a LIE. And you know what? It's not because people are just naive/ innocent/ignorant. Traffickers have become so deceptive and manipulative. They know how to sell a story. They know how to cover their tracks. That is why they can get away with so much.
Sometimes victims are chosen BECAUSE they are lonely or alone. They choose the vulnerable.
You know what is another lie? That these problems are just too hard and there's nothing we can really do about it. It's so overwhelming, how can we save millions of lives and bring people to justice? Yes, it is too hard. Yes it is overwhelming. Yes there are millions of slaves all around the world. Even kids who live in our neighbourhood who are being abused. It's EVERYWHERE.
These are facts...But the lie is to believe that we can't do anything about it. The lie is to believe that we are too insignificant to make any kind of change.
You know what I truly believe? I believe if we were just all a bit more educated that WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Sometimes a SMALL difference can be a HUGE and significant one.
Let's talk about the ugly side of life and expose the darkness. Let's talk about the need to love and be loved. The need to be seen and known.
