There's a reason people keep buying records in 2026, and it isn't sound quality on paper.

It's the walk to the shelf. Reading the sleeve again. Lowering the stylus and committing to a side, in the order the artist put it in, with no skipping. Vinyl asks something of you, and that's the whole appeal.

The setup around it shouldn't ask as much. Coda W takes your turntable straight in through a built-in phono stage, with the amplification already inside the cabinets, so the gear stops being a project and goes back to being furniture.

Then the 12th generation Uni-Q® does the listening part, placing the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the mid-bass cone so the music arrives from one point rather than two.

Ross Lovegrove's cabinet has no flat panels to resonate and no hard edges to scatter the sound, which is why it looks like sculpture and measures like engineering.

Your bookshelf speakers might be working too hard.

Below 60Hz, a small woofer is fighting excursion limits, and that strain shows up as distortion in the midrange, where you actually hear it.

Add KC62 or KC92, cross over at 80Hz, and the mains stop straining. The bass gets deeper, but more importantly the vocals get cleaner.

The upgrade you hear most isn't the bass. It's everything above it.
