A major win for Polish cinema at Cannes 🇵🇱 👏

Director Paweł Pawlikowski has won the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his latest film FATHERLAND.

This marks another major international achievement for one of Poland’s most celebrated filmmakers, whose work continues to captivate audiences worldwide. The director of IDA — winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film — previously won the same Cannes award for COLD WAR, which also received three Oscar nominations.

FATHERLAND received outstanding reviews throughout the festival and quickly became one of the standout films in competition this year.

Polish talent shines at the Oscars! 🏆

Huge congratulations to Maciek Szczerbowski, who together with Canadian filmmaker Chris Lavis won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 98th Academy Awards in Los Angeles for their film "The Girl Who Cried Pearls".

The beautifully crafted animated film tells the story of a poor boy who falls in love with a girl whose tears turn into pearls. When the boy begins selling them, he is faced with a difficult moral choice between love and greed.

Born in Poznań and now based in Canada, Szczerbowski has built an impressive career in animation, and this Oscar win marks another wonderful milestone for artists with Polish roots making their mark on the global film industry.
