Established in 1990, it’s been at the heart and soul of Sydney’s burgeoning art scene for three decades, with regularly changing exhibits with the chance to meet and talk to the artists about their work. Its entirely uncurated open approach means that it gives artists of all genres a chance to exhibit or perform their work, making it one of the most exciting galleries to visit in Sydney. A book launch featuring interviews on art- works chronicling the 30-year history of TAP Gallery will be held on April 16, 2022. TAP Gallery stages many Annual Art Prizes giving artists of all abilities a chance to show their artwork. TAP Gallery hosts the following Art Prize Exhibitions annually:
February-March: Mardi Gras – Outloud – during Sydney Mardi Gras month. March 8: International Women’s Day Art Prize - open to all female artists. May Pyrmont Art Prize: Food & Wine Festival. June Pride Art Prize - during the PRIDE Festival Sydney. June Real Refuses – Rejects from the Archibald, Wynne & Sulman from the Art Gallery of NSW. November Head On – N**es on TAP Photography Prize - in conjunction with the Head-On Photo Festival. Drawing classes are held on Mondays and everyone is welcome to attend. Simply bring your own sketch pad and charcoals. TAP GALLERY: The Artist’s Paradise We’d like to pay our respects to the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation on which our gallery stands. Different professional artists models pose for the art class each week. The painting classes are held on Fridays. and 'Painting the N**e' art classes are held Friday night featuring a live n**e model. All art materials are supplied including acrylic paint and canvas. The class is set in a welcoming art gallery environment with changing exhibitions on display, guided by Lesley Dimmick BFA, OAM. The event is suitable for beginners to advanced and you can bring drinks and nibbles. Many attendees come back again, and this class comes highly recommended. This event is a great idea for celebrating birthdays or hen’s events and if you can muster your own group of 10 or more. You can choose another night such as Saturday night to hold your very own special night. You can also buy a 'Gift Card' for a special friend or loved one to attend the classes held every Monday and Friday at 7pm.
