The Association of Filipinos and Fil-Australians in the University of Queensland (FilOz UQ), a student-led society based at the University of Queensland, gathers students interested to know more and promote the Philippine culture. It also provides support for incoming Filipino students, particularly AusAID and UQ International scholars, as they transition to a life in Queensland and offers opportu
nities for its members to network, engage in peer support and participate in efforts for the Philippines. Mission: a) to organize activities for social interactions and cultural promotions; and, b) to provide assistance for both incoming and current Filipino students as they transition to a life in Australia
Objectives:
As a sociocultural organization
- To conduct a general assembly at the beginning of each semester;
- To showcase the Filipino culture during various international events at the University of Queensland; and,
- To engage members in social and networking activities
As a support group
- To welcome incoming Filipino students and help them transition in the university life; and,
- To initiate and participate in activities for charitable causes in the Philippines
