Thank you to Maranoa Regional Council for sponsoring the 2026 Acquisitive Local Artist Prize at Sculptures Out Back.

The winning work will join the permanent collection, becoming part of the enduring story of art and community in the Maranoa.

Thank you to WestWind Energy - Australia for sponsoring the 2026 Acquisitive Wind Sculpture Prize at Sculptures Out Back.
Through their work on the Bottle Tree Energy Park, just outside Roma, they understand the power of large forms holding their own against the western horizon. Their support of the Wind Sculpture Prize feels particularly fitting, a natural alignment between renewable energy infrastructure and ambitious, landscape-responsive sculpture.
This acquisitive prize ensures the winning work enters the permanent collection along Bungil Creek, becoming part of the enduring conversation between art, place, and the land.
We are grateful for their continued commitment to the region and to the arts. Thank you to the team at WestWind Energy.

Thank you to on Bungil Gallery for sponsoring the 2026 People’s Choice Prize at Sculptures Out Back.
Roma on Bungil Gallery holds a particularly special place in this exhibition’s story. They were there at the very beginning, helping shape and steady the idea when it was still finding its feet along (ironically) Bungil Creek. That early belief in what a large-scale outdoor sculpture exhibition could mean in Roma carries through to their support of the People’s Choice Prize today.
This prize gives visitors a direct voice at the exhibition. It recognises the work that connects most strongly with those who walk the grounds, where landscape and sculpture meet under the western sky.
We are grateful for their continued commitment. Thank you to the team at .

Most of the work at Sculptures Out Back is metal. The Roma Sands Pty Ltd Medium Other Than Metal Acquisitive Prize is for everything else. Stone, timber, ceramic, glass, found and mixed material. If it stands up outdoors and it is not fabricated steel, this is its category. The prize is acquisitive, so the winning work is purchased and stays permanently along Bungil Creek where the exhibition lives.

A short walk through the pieces that have stood here in past years, with the wind, the birds, and the occasional truck passing by. We're grateful to keep adding to the collection, so anyone passing through has something to stop and look at year round.

The Roma Wire And Steel Acquisitive Garden Seat Prize is one of the categories in the Sculptures Out Back program that brings out some very unique ideas. The work has to be sculpture, and it also has to be a seat. Form, function, and weather all have to land in the same piece. The winning work is acquired and stays permanently along Bungil Creek, where visitors actually sit on it as they walk through the exhibition. That is rare in a sculpture. Most public art is for looking at. This one is for using. Roma Wire and Steel back this prize every year, which is fitting given they are a local fabricator. Their work and the work they sponsor will both be standing here long after the exhibition closes. Thank you to the team at Roma Wire and Steel.
