💭What is contemporary art?
Contemporary art is created by artists responding to the world right now, our technologies, our global connections, and the rapidly changing social and political landscapes of the late 20th century to today.

From digital media and large-scale video to robotics, performance and interactive installation, contemporary artists are expanding what art can be. They’re also using new platforms including the internet, social media and global biennials to share ideas and spark conversations that matter.

Contemporary art offers rich opportunities to explore critical thinking, global awareness, creativity and interdisciplinary learning. It encourages students to connect artmaking with their own lived experiences and the world they’re navigating.

Invite your students to engage with art that speaks directly to their time.

Find out more about contemporary art with our online resources and visit the Adelaide Biennial this term with your students.

Thrilled to be exhibiting at Wonderground ❤️

We can’t wait to to welcome you to The Gathering this Friday evening 6pm.

Join us for our first art exhibition for 2026

The Gathering
a coming together; a convergence; the natural pull toward connection.

‘The Gathering,’ is both theme and gesture: a moment where diverse paths meet, forming something shared. Through art, new stories unfold in resonant creative voices, mirroring the way elements gather in nature, memories form in clusters, and meaning deepens with each interaction.

Exhibiting artists include: Madeleine Collopy, ChuanDa Tan, Jim Thalassoudis, Alexandra Hirst, Karen Slape, Saint Chalom, Angela Koehler, Kirsty Kingsley and Renee de Saxe
