🌏 Every voice matters. Every answer counts!

The Census is one of the most important ways to make sure our multicultural community is seen, counted and represented as part of Australia's story.

Whether you're an Australian citizen, permanent resident, temporary visa holder, international student or visitor, your Census response helps build a clearer picture of our community and supports planning for services like healthcare, education, transport and community facilities.

🗓️ Census Night is Tuesday, 11 August 2026.

If you need help completing your Census form, drop in to one of the free Census Fill in the Form Sessions being held across Hedland. Friendly staff will be there to help.
📍See the attached schedule for dates, times and locations.

Thank you, ABC Pilbara, for covering our inaugural celebration. Together, we're celebrating cultures, strengthening community connections and building a more inclusive Hedland. 🧡

The Hedland Multicultural Association held its inaugural event on Saturday with more than 250 people celebrating the rich culture and diversity of Port Hedland.

There were cultural performances and food from Africa, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Torres Strait Islands, and the Ukraine and a Welcome to Country by Kariyarra elder Uncle Alfred Barker.

Hedland Multicultural Association Vice President Ambika Rebello told ABC Pilbara Breakfast it was a beautiful celebration based on respect, inclusion and community.

“Hedland is very multicultural and the intention is not just to acknowledge that multiculturalism or to celebrate it, but to harness it as a superpower where we come together with our shared values and with the fact that we were probably born in different countries around the world, but we live now in Hedland," she said.

"We contribute to Hedland, we serve Hedland and we grow as a community”.
