Help support this brand-new dance work from Perth-based early career artists! 🎭🩵

The Little Mermaid is an ambitious and tender full-length dance theatre work, reimagining the classic tale as a disabled, q***r and brown coming-of-age story for 7 dancers.

Your donations will nurture underrepresented and independent cultural leadership in ballet, and the development of a ground-breaking disabled-led work. You will also support 17 independent artists to develop their dance, theatre-making and stage design practices in an ambitious expression of theirown cultures and life experiences.

Made with care by a disabled-led team of underrepresented theatre, dance and music collaborators – this ballet bravely defies tradition, merging contemporary and pedestrian aesthetics with theatrical realism through Patrick Gunasekera’s compellingly honest choreography.

Distinctly West Australian, The Little Mermaid is a courageous and cathartic reckoning with the social conditions that shape our understandings of love, and the determination of young people to rewrite the life stories chosen for us.
