I didn’t start Bachata to become a professional or to even teach. I started it as a way to get out of the house and meet new people.

I always loved dancing but what kept me going with Bachata was that it gave me a place where I could just show up.

I didn’t need to rely on others to join me and I always knew that from the moment I arrived (even if I had to drag myself of the couch sometimes!) I’d always feel better for going.

The way I run my classes now holds all of these experiences front of mind.

So whether you’re an absolute beginner looking to get started or you’ve been learning Bachata and want to get better- I’ve been where you are and can help you.

Our next series starts this Sunday, August 30th and runs for 4 weeks. No partner or dance experience needed!

2-3pm Beginners - first timers, learn the basics
3-4pm Beginners 2 - building your social dancing confidence
4:15- 5:15pm Bachata Sensual Foundations - detailed connection and body movement breakdowns

Imagine you didn’t keep waiting till next time.

Registrations are open for one of our last intakes of the year.

We were adult beginners too so we know it can be daunting to try something new. But we’ve also built a whole community who are living proof that learning to dance bachata has changed their life here in Perth.

Nobody tells you these 3 things before your first bachata social.

You'll feel like everyone already knows the room. They don't.
Arriving alone is normal. Saying no is normal. Watching too much is normal too.
Focus on one couple for a full song and the pressure disappears — everyone messes up, repeats and laughs.

Tonight at Rise, we're making it even easier: grab an orange wristband if you're new to social dancing — no explaining required.

Ever been in a class and thought "why so much detail"? Fair question. 🙂

It's not because we expect perfection or are teaching towards pros — it's the opposite.

Imagine you're building a brick wall for the first time, and someone says to you "just lay the bricks and cement." So you do what you think and the wall comes out crooked and wobbly....

In our classes people are learning to dance, or trying a new movement often for the first time. That moment defines how they'll continue to dance. Often giving surface level information results in having to unlearn a lot of bad habits (which we know from our own personal experience!)

We're not about forcing the surface level 'fun' in our classes, because we believe the fun part is actually learning how to do something new or different, and then experiencing the progress that happens over time.
