Hi everyone! Since we've had a fair few new people join us (welcome! π₯°), I thought it was time for a quick intro/refresher about what Brain Farts is all about!
The mission of Brain Farts Arts is for everyone to embrace their own awesomeness, follow their creativity and make sense of life through art. Too often people are told how their art 'should' look, or what constitutes being 'right'! I help everyone to look at things a different way, to take risks, build their bravery, and work through barriers such as 'I can't do...', 'I'm not good at...', 'I got it wrong' in a safe, supportive and uplifting space.
As for me - Nic/Nicole/Mrs Tyrie, here's the tea! (that photo is old -just squint a bit, imagine me with darker hair and more wrinkles, and you've got the idea!)
π I'm a qualified teacher, specialising in K-3 but with classroom experience in many other year levels too! I left the classroom after 5 years because there was just not enough of me left for my family. I still do a bit of relief here and there!
π I then spent over a year working in the NDIS early childhood intervention space as a Key Worker, which was SUCH a beautiful and rewarding role! Corporate politics however, was totally not my jam π
π I started Brain Farts in 2022, which has mostly been school holiday art workshops for kids π₯³ I've started to dabble in paint and sip events for grown ups, birthday parties and private events - with plans to keep growing these strands where I can find time to fit them in! π€ͺ We also kicked off an after school Art Club this term which is SO fun!
π I'm the proudly exhausted mama of 3 wonderful humans - James (16), Chelsea (14) and Madi (12)! They are all very busy, active freeloaders so if you're ever looking for me, I'll prob be in my car driving them around haha. I'm very grateful for my amazing husband Glenn to share the fun and parenting load with π₯°
π I have a LOT of experience with neurodivergence and child development - both through lived experience and more formally through teaching and early childhood intervention.
π Oh and because life isn't QUITE busy enough, I've just enrolled in a Diploma of Counselling to continue expanding my repertoireπ€
Now I want to hear about YOU! What brought you to the 'Farts? Love mess but not in your house? Kids keep wanting to paint but you'd rather stab yourself in the eye with a rusty fork? Living a minimalist lifestyle so would prefer others to do the art supply hoarding for you? Don't dig sport so trying to find something else to entertain the kids? Or just liked that someone has the word 'farts' in their business name?
