Eyebrows: redness surrounding tattoo, and a darker appearance to the pigment (redness will be gone within an hour or two).
Lips: swelling can occur and may take up to 6 hours to calm down. Think big pout and expect people to ask whether you have had fillers. By Day 2 it will look as though you have applied a lipstick and swelling will usually be entirely gone.
Eyeliner: swelling and redness can make it appear that you have been crying. A few hours to allow the eyes to return to normal is recommended.

You can absolutely continue working after you have had cosmetic tattoo. No down time required, however you may be a little red in the area surrounding the new tattoo. This calms down very quickly, and shouldn't be noticeable by others within an hour or two of your appointment.

❤ When Kate came to see me for a refresh of her old microblading tattoo, I was disappointed to see how much scarring she had been left with, and quite honestly, my phone camera didn't pick it up as well as I would have liked to show you. She said that almost immediately after her previous tattoo, her brows had been almost black. This is caused by the artist using too much pressure when creating the hair strokes. Years on, the pigment had mostly faded but parts of black, blue and purple remained, along with bad scarring, especially on the tails of her brows.
Normally I would suggest a session or two of saline removal, but as the skin was so badly damaged, I opted for a coverup brow tattoo. We used some corrective pigment to bring the black/blue pigment back to brown, and then completed the session by going over the entire brows with a warm brown. Whilst immediately after the session, the brows appear very dark and orange toned, they will settle in their warmth in a few days and when healed, Kate will have beautiful soft powder brows. The warmth is necessary to prevent the pigment from ashing out, and will keep the old pigment from resurfacing. I just can't wait to show you all the healed results!

The most disappointing thing is to leave after your appointment and wake up the next day to that tell tale tingling. Cold sores can ruin your new lip tattoo, and leave scarring. You are still a great candidate for lip tattoo, but it is important to take preventative steps in advance of your appointment. Even if you haven’t had a cold sore in years (many had them as small children) the virus never goes away, and just lays dormant in your body, suppressed by your immune system.

During the process of a lip procedure, needles will be breaking the delicate skin of the lip and can actually cause the virus to “wake up” causing an outbreak.

If you know or suspect that you have had a cold sore in the past, you can ask your doctor for a prescription of anti-cold sore medications such as Aciclovir. This will give you the utmost protection against getting cold sores after your procedure.

If you do not want to take prescription medication you can go to your local drug store and look for a product called Lysine that can be used before and after the procedure to prevent and treat breakouts as well as help along the healing process. It is an over the counter supplement and can be found at any chemist. Check for interactions with any other medications you may be taking, or speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
