2025 Belmont Art Awards
Could not believe I won the Overall Award for my piece Excelsior Street
I spent the second half of the opening night in dissociative autopilot 😆
Congrats to everyone who entered, and a huge thanks to everyone involved in putting together such an amazing opening night!
The exhibition is on at The Glasshouse until Sat 27th Sep

Felt absolutely surreal to win the Overall Award at the 2025 Belmont Art Awards! I had to keep checking the name on the certificate to make sure I didn't just claim someone else's award! Congrats to all the artists who entered and a big thank you to everyone involved in putting together such a great opening night. The exhibition is open until Sat 27th Sep. Check it out if you can!

For the 2025 Claremont Art Awards & Exhibition, I wanted to really push both my skills and the material with this one-off experimental reinterpretation of Featherby House. Balancing clean, almost impossibly thin columns with a more brutal frame featuring voids and exposed aggregate.

I don't know how, but I managed to win the Sculpture Award! Just beyond grateful!

The judges' words:
"There is a technical skill which is evident in the work. The work celebrates the modernist architectural work of Iwan Iwanoff in WA, which, although worthy of international attention, has somewhat flown under the broader society's radar. It engages the viewer to find out more and maybe posits 'be careful what you destroy in the name of progress.' It also recalls remnants of ancient monuments, perfect in some areas and degraded in others, yet retaining their presence and importance."

The exhibition is still open until 22nd Aug. Check out the amazing works on display and vote for your fav for the popular choice award!
