Wednesday was full of laughs, learning, and circus fun!

The kids rocked up to a table full of fresh fruit for afternoon tea — big thanks to the amazing team at Champion Centre for always looking after us 🍌🍎🍉

We got straight into a solid warm-up and stretch, led by our deadly trainers Shezari and Olivia 🙌

Then it was time to get creative — the kids continued decorating hula hoops in black, yellow, and red for NAIDOC Week 🖤💛❤️

After that, they moved into some circus manipulation skills, mini tramp and even tried out some handstands — strong bodies and strong focus all around! 🤸🏽‍♀️

We were stoked to have Derek Nannup back in the space, working with the kids on something special for Champion Centre’s NAIDOC event. There were plenty of laughs — the kids absolutely love learning and yarning with him.

We finished the session on a high — quite literally — with an epic human pyramid! The teamwork and trust between the kids was incredible!!

Then our older kids took over the kitchen cooking up a yummy sausage sizzle for dinner 🤩

Another deadly session 🖤💛♥️

What did you get up to last week?
Because last Wednesday at Youth Circus was absolutely deadly!

After some fresh fruit thanks to the Champion Centre, we started off with some games and stretching. Our trainers Ben, Bonnie and Shez split the kids up to practice their three-person human balancing acts — before building up to the BIG human pyramid! 💪🏾

The energy kept flowing with the mini tramp challenge — land the jump, then cartwheel or backbend your way back!
Bonnie also took some of the crew to try out Diablos, and later taught the kids how to flip out of a bendback! It was then trapeze, silks and a hula hoop routine that looked amazing 🔥

We did have a special visit from the legend himself, Derek Nannup, who had a yarn with the kids and played his didgeridoo while they practiced their dances and circus tricks getting ready for NAIDOC 🖤💛♥️

Our littlest legends who are always so keen to join in wowed us on the trapeze and let Shez showed off her awesome foot balancing skills.

We wrapped up with a sausage sizzle thanks to Rhianne and Chloe from Champion Centre 😊

Can’t wait to see everyone back tonight for more circus fun! See you there!

What did we get up to last Wednesday at circus? 🎪

We kicked things off with fresh fruit for afternoon tea (thanks to the amazing Champion Centre!) before getting straight into warm-ups. Why warm up? It gets our bodies moving, helps prevent injuries, and gets us ready to try awesome new skills!

Our fabulous trainers Shezari, Sarah, and Bonnie kept things moving with diablos, hula hoops, human balancing acts (so much trust and teamwork!), and—of course—the crowd favourite: the mini tramp!

After all that action, we were treated to a delicious dinner of hotdogs, roast potatoes, and corn, thanks again to the Champion Centre. Then came a special surprise—cake time! 🎂
We celebrated two of our deadly circus kids, Koa and Mikey, with a big birthday singalong.

What a night. Moorditj work everyone! 👏

What are these moorditj kids going to get up to this afternoon???

As we get closer to NAIDOC Week, let’s throw it back to one of the most powerful moments from our 2022 Presentation Night.

Our young performers didn’t just show off their circus skills — they chose to honour the NAIDOC 2022 theme: Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!

With handmade signs and heartfelt speeches, they celebrated influential First Nations people and reminded us all of the importance of standing up for justice, truth, and community.

Circus teaches courage — not just on the stage, but in life. And these young voices showed us exactly what that looks like. 🖤💛❤️

What a deadly night last Wednesday!

We started off with some fresh fruit for afternoon tea — thanks to the amazing Champion Centre staff for keeping us nourished 🍉

Then we got creative, jumping straight into decorating our new hula hoops (big thanks to FlipTease for the generous donation!). The kids loved removing the old contact and re-taping them for NAIDOC 🖤💛❤️

After that, it was time for some warm-up games to get the body moving and the energy flowing.

Our brilliant trainers Shezari and Sarah led a session packed with partner acro, hula hooping, and skill-building — all in preparation for the upcoming NAIDOC event at Champion Centre 🙌

To finish off a big night, the Champion Centre crew served up delicious roast pork rolls for dinner and we sung HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of our littlest members— the perfect end to a full-on, fun session!

Can’t wait to see what the kids get up to tomorrow 🤩

Whether you’re trying something new or just here to hang out, it’s all about having fun, making friends, and feeling good 🙂

Just like these two legends in the photo — big smiles, good vibes, and good company! 🙌

What a deadly Wednesday we had last week!!

We kicked things off with some fresh fruit for afternoon tea thanks to the awesome team at Champion Centre 🤩

Then we got moving with some fun warm-ups before Damon played the didgeridoo — and even balanced it on his chin!

Damon and Krissy led our moorditj kids, getting started on something special for NAIDOC Week 🖤💛❤️

After that, it was all action with our trainers Damon, Krissy, Shezari and Sarah running mini tramp, aerials, and partner acro — so much energy and talent flying around!

We finished the evening with some yummy hot dogs thanks to our amazing Rhianne at Champion Centre 😍

Can’t wait to see what the kids create this Wednesday!

🌟 Meet Shezari Lourenco – AKA Shezam 🌟
She’s new to our program this year, but already an absolute favourite with the kids!

Born and raised on Yinggarda Country in Carnarvon, Shezari is a multi-talented circus artist, songwriter, and emerging producer with over a decade of performance experience. She began her circus journey at just seven years old and has since fallen in love with all things round—specialising in Lyra and hula hoops.

With strong roots in regional WA and a vibrant artistic future ahead, Shezari is passionate about creating inclusive, culturally rich work that sparks connection, pride, and joy. Her big dream? To one day re-open a circus school in the Gascoyne. 🎪

As a dedicated social circus trainer, Shezari brings over two years of experience delivering youth-focused workshops and community-based programs. With mentorship from acclaimed artists Theaker von Ziarno and Daniel Power, she continues to grow as an emerging producer with Creality Arts.

We’re so lucky to have her on the team! 💫

What can one kid do? A lot.
What can a group of kids do when they trust, support, and lift each other up?
Anything💥

This moment from our 2022 Presentation Night reminds us of the power of connection, courage, and community. The magic of circus lives in moments like these 💛

This is what learning looks like — laughter, play, and a little bit of wobble. 🙃

When kids are free to explore, get messy, and have fun, they build more than circus skills. They grow confidence, creativity, and pure joy — one spinning plate at a time.

In our youth circus, every giggle and grin reminds us: learning doesn’t have to be serious to be powerful.

Let’s keep it fun. Let’s keep it moving. 💫
