Home again and slowly settling back into life on the farm 🤎

A special thank you to Hunter, Michelle, Meredith, and Carly for everything you brought to Mama Tree while I was away. Seeing your care and warmth come through in all the photos and videos was pure joy and knowing the sessions and farm were in such capable hands meant so much 🥹

Spring is already feeling pretty special around here. See you on the farm soon x

Term 4 is officially open to everyone!

And Baby Herd + Mini Herd have already filled 🥹🤎

There are still places available in Wild Herd + Homeschool, and our waitlists are open for Baby + Mini for any casual places that pop up throughout the term.

Term 4 takes us from spring into those first warm, almost-summer days on the farm which means more water, more growing, more making, more time outside and plenty of room for the children to follow whatever has their attention that day.

The most incredible compliment I can receive is hearing a parent say that their child tried something they were too scared to try the week before.

Whether that’s feeding the pony, holding a chicken or climbing the tree, it all matters.

And, shockingly, there is actually research behind this 😆

Children are more willing to explore and take manageable risks when they feel safe, supported and familiar with their environment. Returning each week gives them time to watch, build trust and try when they feel ready, without being hurried or pressured.

That’s why we believe consistency matters so much at Mama Tree. Over a term, relationships grow, confidence builds and the farm becomes part of a child’s world, not just somewhere they once came to have an experience.

Let us be that for your child 🤎

Term 4 enrolments open this week. Join our mailing list via the link in our bio to be given priority.

We are about to enter Week 5 of Term 3, which means… Spring holidays are coming! The days are getting longer, the farm is starting to wake up again, and I am VERY ready for spring.

These school holidays were opening Mama Tree for one beautiful week only 5–9 October (Week 1).

Think real farm work, animals, water, flowers, potions, real tools, tiny discoveries and plenty of time to wander and explore the farm.

Bookings open Monday. Our mailing list will get first access before bookings are released more broadly, so if you’ve been waiting to join us, make sure you’re on it.

I’ve been having so many conversations lately, both inside and outside the Mama Tree community, about children, nature, animals and the microbiome.

So of course, I did a deep dive into the research and it’s so dang fascinating.

One Finnish study found that increasing biodiversity in childcare yards (adding things like forest floor, real turf and garden areas) changed children’s skin and gut microbiota in just 28 days, as well as changes in markers associated with immune regulation.

On the farm animal front, research into the “farm effect” has repeatedly linked traditional farm environments with lower rates of asthma and allergic sensitisation.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a quick fix for health overall, but there is growing evidence that contact with diverse, living environments matters.

Guess we better get some more animals? 🤷‍♀️😅

This week is Early Learning Matters Week.

For me, it isn’t about celebrating a business or a program. It’s a reminder of why this profession matters. And I truly believe it matters.

The heartbreaking events that have come to light recently have left me unbelievably sad. Like many educators, I’ve been quiet because I just haven’t known what to say.

But if there’s one thing they’ve reinforced, it’s this: Knowledge matters. Relationships matter. Intentional environments matter. And, first and foremost, protecting childhood matters.

The five things in this carousel aren’t trends or marketing angles. They’re the beliefs that shape every session at Mama Tree and every decision I make as an educator.

To every early childhood educator who shows up each day with knowledge, compassion and commitment for our little people, I see you.

And to the families who trust me with your children and their learning, thank you. It is a privilege I will never take lightly.

Now, let’s keep getting them outside and muddy… with a little duckling on the side 🐥🌿

Happy Horse Birthday to our Herd!

Did you know that, in Australia, every horse celebrates their birthday on August 1st, regardless of when they were actually born?

So today we are celebrating them! The beautiful creatures who shape so much of what we do here at Mama Tree.

All of our horses have their own quirks, stories and personalities and we are so glad you all love them as much as we do.

So, happy Horse Birthday to Dundee, Ella, Kahlua and Rosie, plus all the other beautiful horses who call a Mama Tree Farms paddock their home.

We thank them for the memories they are helping to create and for being the most fantastic work colleagues (albeit a little pushy at feed time 🙄).. Carrots, apples and liquorice for dessert tonight though 👌🏼

We love you all so much 🎈🥕
