🎙️ **We're Back!** 🎙️

After a brief hiatus, we are thrilled to announce the return of Behind the Sash! It appears our incredible community of listeners can’t wait to dive back into the conversations, stories, and insights you love.

Over the past weeks, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes, refining our content, booking amazing new guests, and planning some exciting surprises just for you. Whether you’re a long-time listener or a new follower, we promise a season packed with thought-provoking discussions, laughter, and inspiration.

Thank you to Elyse Hudson, the creator of Behind the Sash for entrusting myself and Paris Capell with the amazing opportunity.

Thank you for being a part of our podcast family. Here’s to new beginnings and many more memorable episodes ahead!

Stay tuned, and as always, happy listening!

With gratitude,
Sammy Cormie-Smith

As someone who has grown up competing in shows, i have a unique understanding of the intricacies of a successful show day.

So how does this relate to announcing? Due to this experience i am no stranger to planing, rules or the history of shows and their events. This allows me to seamlessly navigate competitors, judges and audiences through programs.

How does the service of an announcer benefit your show society?
It is through announcing services that champions are to be heralded, volunteers to be celebrated, sponsors to be promoted, judges can be recognised and ambassadors commemorated.

Finally how does have an announcer enrich audiences experiences at your show?
As an announcer i endeavour to create an interactive and immersive environment, in a colourful and funny manor. Educating audiences on the complexities of events and agriculture, whilst celebrating the history and industries that the competitions represent.

✨Royal Bathurst Show Round-Up ✨

Just a little over two weeks ago, I had the honour of being one of the Ring Announcers at the 2024 Royal Bathurst Show 🎙️
The weekend was jam packed with things to see and do. A personal favourite was the quirky yet thrilling Esky Race. A true delight to the spectator.

Of course it wouldn’t be a show without celebration of the youth in agriculture, the coveted title of Young woman was awarded to Izzy Smith, while Jacob Ryan donned the title of Young Rural Achiever. Both of these wonderful people are absolutely inspiring.

Of course a huge shout out the my wonderful co-announcers Darren Adams and Eliza Babazogli. You were an absolute dream team to work with! 🐎

Thank you to the President Col McPhee, Secretary Brett Kenworthy and the hard-working committee, in addition to all the wonderful volunteers and sponsors who make weekends like this possible.

It was a privilege to be a part of “The Country Royal” for 2024 🤍

Hey!
Allow me to introduce myself;

My name is Sammy, I’m 26-year-old registered nurse living in Orange, NSW, with my husband Hamish, my beautiful Corgi Odie 😍
and of course a couple of horses.

I’ve been riding since the wise old age of two, and I have competed right across the country in that time. I have been fortunate enough to compete at state and national levels across a number of different disciplines from One Day Eventing, Campdrafting, Showjumping, Hacking, and even turning my hand to trackwork.

Like any young person who grew up in a rural area, my passion for agriculture didn’t stop here. I’ve also competed in the world of showing reaching up to royal levels in sheep and cattle.
In 2019 these passions lead me to enter my local showgirl competition, then becoming Coonabarabran Showgirl for 2020. After a long wait (thanks Covid 🦠), I was named as one of the 15 finalist for the AgShows New South Wales Young Woman competition. I went on to compete as one of The Land Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman, state finalist in 2022. This experience was nothing short of life changing.
Since then, I’ve taken every opportunity presented to me attending countless shows as an ambassador for my community and youth programs within the show movement.
It is due to these opportunities along with the people I’ve met, the mentors I’ve acquired as well as support from those around me that I’ve ended up here, with a microphone in hand. 🎙️

Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to my hard launch.
I am ecstatic to declare that i have offically* embarked into the world of ✨Show Ring and Event Announcing✨
As somebody who has grown up competing in show rings all over the country, i am thrilled to be venturing into this new experience. My passion for agriculture and community has been life long; opening up countless opportunities and connections.
As i dive further into this world i aim to bring my experiences and knowledge to create a colourful and bustling atmosphere at your events.
I can’t wait to see what opportunities this experience will open up and i hope to see many of your smiling faces at events Australia wide.
