Do you know what Neurographic Art is?

Neurographic art is a creative drawing technique that uses flowing lines, rounded intersections and colours to create beautiful, abstract artworks.

The process encourages us to slow down, focus on the present moment and enjoy creating without worrying about perfection.

This week in our art class, we explored this fascinating technique, and what beautiful artworks everyone created!

What I love about neurographic art is that you don't need to know how to draw to create something amazing! Every artwork is completely unique, and there is no right or wrong way to express yourself.

It's a wonderful reminder that art is not always about the finished product, but also about the joy, relaxation and creativity we experience along the way.

Little Artists, Big Australian Landscapes!

How amazing are our young artists! 😍

This week in our Kids Art Class, we explored the beauty of Australian landscapes, creating our very own masterpieces on canvas!

The children did such a wonderful job, and I was so impressed with how their paintings turned out! Each canvas was unique, showing their own creativity and artistic style.

I just love seeing what these young artists can achieve when given the opportunity to learn, experiment and express themselves through art.

🎨 Quirky Faces and Creative Fun! 🎲

Our Adult Beginner Art Class was full of laughter this week as we explored the art of portraiture using the dice method!

The faces turned out so quirky and full of character that you couldn't help but smile!

But that was exactly the point of our lesson. Art is not about perfection!

We explored facial proportions and composition, learning how changing the placement, size and shape of facial features can completely transform the way a person looks.

Sometimes the most unusual creations are the ones that bring us the most joy!

What a fun way to learn about portraiture while embracing our creativity and individuality. ❤️

Our next Adult Beginner Art Class starts this Monday, 5 October, and there are only two days left to join us! 🩷

For 9 weeks we will explore different artists, materials, techniques and styles together. But it is about more than learning art. It is also a chance to relax, switch off, meet new people, have a laugh and enjoy two hours of creativity each week.

🎨 A Little Studio Break 🎨

Our How Great Thou Art studio will be closed for the next two weeks while we enjoy a little break between terms.

A huge THANK YOU to all our wonderful students and families for another fantastic term! It has been such a joy seeing the creativity, laughter, friendships and beautiful artworks filling our studio each week.

Thank you for supporting our little art studio and allowing us to be part of your creative journey. 💗

My daughter had some of the flowers from her wedding bouquet turned into this beautiful piece of art for me to keep.

I just think this is such a creative and thoughtful idea. Flowers don’t last forever, but now I get to keep a little piece of her wedding day forever.

Every time I look at it, I’ll remember her beautiful bouquet and such a special day in our family. I absolutely love it. What a precious keepsake from my girl. ❤️

A House of Grace

In our Christian Art Journalling session, we explored something that sounds simple but can actually be quite complex: grace.

We created our own beautiful Houses of Grace using scrapbook papers, with each part of the house representing a different aspect of grace. We reflected on receiving grace, compassion, forgiveness, truth, boundaries, self-reflection, restoration and even those places where we find grace difficult.

John 1:14 describes Jesus as being “full of grace and truth.” What a beautiful reminder that we do not have to choose between the two.

One of the things I love most about reflecting through art is that it gives us time to slow down and really think. As our hands are busy cutting, arranging, gluing, drawing and creating, we have space to process our thoughts, ask deeper questions and consider areas where we might need to grow.

Art does not always have to be about creating something perfect. Sometimes the greatest value is found in what we discover about ourselves while we are creating.

Our houses may have been made from paper, but the reflections inside them were very real. ❤️

Last week our Adult Beginner Art Class explored the beautiful still life work of Mary Fedden, and I just love how these paintings turned out!

We focused on shape and form, using bold blocks of colour rather than blending everything together. It was a different way of approaching a vase of flowers and really encouraged everyone to simplify what they painted.

And the flowers came out so lovely! Each painting was completely different, with its own colours, shapes and personality.
