Forget algorithms.
Build community in real life.

On the latest episode of Talking With Creatives, Sunshine Coast indie-soul artist Will Clift said:

“They say you need to build a community. What’s a better way now than in person, in people’s houses? Now’s the time to lean into authenticity — that’s the bonus of live performing musicians.”

And he’s backing it up.

Will is touring from the Sunshine Coast to Melbourne, not playing big venues, but living rooms. Backyards. Garages.

He’ll come to you.
You just bring the audience.
No middleman.
No noise.
Just music.
Person to person.

This is grassroots touring.
This is creative courage.
This is authenticity in action.

Will is currently seeking expressions of interest, so if you’ve ever wanted to host a house concert, this is your moment!

🎙️ New episode now live

In my first chat for 2026, I’m joined by musician Will Clift, a Sunshine Coast–based artist whose work blends soul, indie, dance and contemporary R&B. From busking at the Eumundi Markets to releasing his debut EP I Know You Know (2024), Will shares his journey of building a creative life independently, navigating the music industry, and the bold choice to follow his instincts- leaving a promising professional rugby career to pursue music; a path full of risk and uncertainty.

This episode is for the creatives who feel deeply and have the courage to make things anyway.

Tune in for a conversation about music, community, resilience, and listening to your heart even when the practical path seems safer.

Warwick Gow is a Sunshine Coast based artist, art worker and co-founder of LANTANA Space. His arts practice is primarily based in photography and installation, using the portrait to place local fringe culture within arm’s length of the mainstream.

Destabilising notions of representation, elevating unique identities and that of the self by hijacking the thin veil of commercialism and elegantly smashing it against a DIY ethic.

This ethos carries through into Gow’s approach as an arts worker as part of Sunshine Coast Council’s Creative Development Team, and into his emerging practice as an independent curator in a regional setting.

Artist and curator Warwick Gow ‘embraces the DIY ethic that one can express oneself and create moving and serious dialogue with limited means, (prompting an) invitation to recognize a shared sense of empathy, regardless of how we are viewed within our communities.

Gow is constantly informed by the evolving socio-political environment we all share. He uses his art practice as a way to advocate for collective action toward more equitable communities, placing local fringe culture into broader socio-political conversations without diluting the unique identities of his subjects.

Weaving complex perspectives and contradictions into installation pieces, featuring self-portraiture in an effort to actively disrupt spaces, Gow is constantly influenced by the people and subcultures surrounding him. Challenging notions of self, accountability, and privilege, (Gow) honours the sustained DIY ethos so many individuals embrace when just existing is seen as a threat.’ - excerpt from Warwick Gow- An Ode To DIY, Noosa Regional Gallery, 3 Jun - 30 Jul 2023.
