Meet Our Producer!
Huw Jones (aka FoxControlMusic) is an artist, music producer and musician. His audio work spans original commercial music releases, artist development and producing, sound design for art installations, composition for TV shows, live performances and radio. Huw lives in Newcastle, Australia.

Beginning his musical life as a passionate guitarist, Huw experienced a more ‘traditional’ music upbringing with private guitar tuition at Wagga Wagga Conservatorium before transitioning into the professional music world playing Blues, funk and hard rock. All the while Huw maintained a constant interest in the sonic and performative possibilities that music technology enables.

Hello, we're back! Critical Animals will be guest-programming an event for the upcoming This is Not Art micro-fest! Details will be announced shortly. See below for more info about the micro-festival.

It’s TiNA, but not as you know her!

This year This is Not Art will be presenting two micro festivals, the first one coming to you February 19-21 2021.

In this special iteration of TiNA, we present a showcase of experimental artists, curated by Huw Jones.

Full program to be announced next week on our website, watch this space for updates!

TiNA respectfully acknowledges the Awabakal, Worimi, Wonnarua and Darkinyung peoples - the traditional owners of the unceded land upon which we hold our Festival and other events. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and emerging.

This event is proudly supported by the City of Newcastle

The beauty of Newcastle's annual This is Not Art festival is that it not only brings creative performers of all shapes, sizes and practices out of the woodwork, but creative thinkers as well.

The final event for our program is a guided tour of Emma Fielden's 'An Immeasurable Distance' led by the artist herself. It's also the very last opportunity to see the exhibition!

Next week will be your last week to view Emma Fielden's solo exhibition AN IMMEASURABLE DISTANCE! Emma will be giving an intimate guided tour of her works for Critical Animals as part of the THIS IS NOT ART festival on Sunday 6 October, 4PM-5PM.

02/10/2019

On Saturday 5 October from 2-3PM we have 'Art as Change (In Theory and Practice)', a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses, challenges and successes in using art as a means of igniting social change and exploring social and political issues. Featuring SueAnne Ware, Helena Bezzina, Tim Buchanan, Hannah Furmage and Jack Wansborough.
