pertise. The band self-produced and released their single and music video, New Line, in October 2021. It was well received by the Newcastle community. One version of the video shared online has clocked up over 18,000 views. Since then, the band have continued their DIY production efforts to include the single Who’s Sleeping? and upcoming single Beating Heart. The best way to experience the band is at a live show. Drummer Libby Jones is renowned for her intensely physical rock drumming, while bass player MJ belongs to the Aussie pub rock tradition. The two guitarists, Robb and Steve, provide countermelodies, vocal harmonies and the occasional blazing guitar solo. All while singer Nadia Waugh throws herself around the stage, giving everything to the performance and to her vocals, a true frontwoman. The band first formed as teenagers. Drummer Libby and singer Nadia were both members of the legendary female punk band Twin Psyche. They formed Heddy’s Revenge with Steve and MJ, who had both played in alternative rock bands. Heddy’s Revenge has always been a fun, sassy and hard rocking band. Their collaborative approach to songwriting is reflected in poignant lyrics exploring themes such as sexuality, relationships and gender roles. The current lineup of the band includes respected Newcastle guitarist and producer Robb Ryan, who brings incredible musicianship and has helped refine the band’s sound. Recent live performances have been well-received, and Heddy’s Revenge look forward to expanding their audience in 2022. The upcoming single Beating Heart, due for release in May 2022, has a relatively laid-back tempo compared to much of the band’s catalogue. It is a captivating song and wistful song with a powerful lyric. The song captures an experience of yearning, grief and optimism that almost everyone can relate to. The music video shows the band on a road trip through the quirky and unmistakable landscape of Newcastle and the Hunter region.
