Filming has wrapped in Brisbane on BULL (working title) 🎥

The Australian feature drama directed by Queensland's Jeffrey Walker (FING!, ALLEN, WHO THE HELL IS HAMISH) stars actor, writer and producer George Pullar (POSTHUMOUS, DEADLOCH, EVIL DEAD BURN) alongside Richard Roxburgh, Robyn Malcolm, Teresa Palmer, Thomas M Wright and Harrison Gilbertson. BULL, from Total Fiction and Infin8 Studios, is inspired by the true story of a fast-talking inmate who joins the prison debating team in a desperate bid to turn his life around and, for once, make his mother proud.

Through roundtables, webinars, and tailored opportunities, the Creative Launchpad program supports a cohort of Queensland's writers, directors and producers to create meaningful and collaborative connections with their peers, learn from Australia's most experienced screen practitioners and develop lasting professional relationships.

The AACTA Awards are proudly presented by BINGE and supported by the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland and Screen Queensland, and Experience Gold Coast.

The acclaimed crime thriller DUSTFALL premieres tonight on ABC and ABC iview 🔍

Directed by Queensland's Emma Freeman, with Anna Torv leading an outstanding cast, DUSTFALL follows Tig (Torv) as she investigates a gripping case that forces her to confront long-buried secrets from her own adolescence.

The Gold Coast-set series from Soapbox Pictures and Moonriver TV won the coveted Series Mania Audience Award in France earlier this year and is set to go global via the BBC and Apple TV.

DUSTFALL was made with a stellar local crew, proudly supported through our Production Attraction Strategy and Post, Digital and Visual Effects (PDV) Incentive, with work completed by Chop Shop Post Pty Ltd, Folklore Post and Spectrum Films.

In the last financial year, we supported 13 international, interstate and local productions through our Production Attraction Strategy. Combined, they supported more than 3,100 local cast and crew and engaged numerous small businesses around the state.

Brisbane writer, director and producer Rae Choi has been announced as the Queensland finalist for Netflix's The Next Brilliant Career.

With support from Screen Queensland and in partnership with the Australian Writers' Guild, Rae was one of the eight women and non-binary screen storytellers from around the country selected to pitch an original concept to Netflix in Sydney earlier this week. Congratulations to Rae and the other participants!

Our Games team and many of our Games Residency cohort have been down south this week for Melbourne International Games Week!

Our residents have been showcasing their works-in-progress at Games Connect Asia Pacific - GCAP and Queensland games developers took home a wagonful of awards with Screen Queensland-supported games BLUEY'S HAPPY SNAPS, HYPER BULLET, KEY FAIRY and SCHRODINGER'S CAT BURGLAR winning their categories at the The Australian Game Developer Awards - The AGDAs. With PAX Australia closing out the rest of the week, even more Queensland games will be on show and ready to play at PAX Rising.

Yesterday, Queensland practitioners gathered at the State Library of Queensland for In the Frame: Screen Practitioners Forum 🎞️

We played a rapid-fire round of red light/green light with Australia's leading commissioners, peeked behind the curtain into the world of financing and closing the deal, dispelling the myth of the 'big break' and heard how working creatives stay connected to audiences in a constantly shifting environment.
