Every Woman. 2025. Acrylic on canvas. 60cm X 85cm.

Here's my latest painting, a subverted and recontextualised painting inspired by Window Wishing (1993) by Ernie Barnes. It reflects upon the internal qualities of feminine identity, from the foreground of schoolgirls aspiring to their chosen fields, the platform and elevation of female leaders of their chosen fields and advocates for the emerging future leaders on a universal scale. The silhouetted forms and unnatural colour scheme creates personal meaning to the viewer on the subjects, allowing us to interpret the figures within our own contexts. The connection between the figures, transcending the boundaries of their own frames evokes the feeling of unity, a place where the individual and their culture can find space held for them in their own selfhood as well as having the capacity to support each other. "Every Woman" calls for women to support women to unite in upholding each other.

The Need to Be Heard;
From Repression to Liberatiom

For this poem, I used discordant phrases and cacophony to reflect the internal conflict of being silenced. This is followed by the euphonious release of finally finding freedom. Alliteration and consonance were crafted to emphasize the shift from repression to liberation.

My most recent passion project, You're The Voice: A Meta-Modern Musical Portrait of Australia, May 2024. Through the assistance of some beautiful volunteers, I created a video projection onto a fence/clothes line hybrid sculpture.

My volunteers were asked to respond unrehearsed and authentically to a collection of music which was popularised through the Australian Radio stations over the last 50 years. The concept behind this was capturing the unique expression of national culture within the individual according to their lived experiences, exposures and biases.

Once the reactions were compiled, I screened the result upon some used clothing purchased from a second hand store, hung up on a fence/clothes line hybrid sculpture and filmed from my own backyard.
