Have you been to visit the Wayne Rees exhibition Gallery369 yet
It ends 15th September make sure you head to the gallery and take a look at this beautiful work.
Friday - Tuesday

Wayne Rees is a self-taught leather artisan living in Springbrook. He discovered
his passion for leathercraft after retirement, having never sewn a stitch before.
Working with full leather hides and quality fittings, Wayne creates each piece by
hand using traditional, time-honoured techniques. His work combines careful
craftsmanship with a love of natural materials, with each piece developing its own
character through the making process.
Depending on the design, Wayne may use embossing, leather moulding, hand
colouring, waxing, antiquing and burnishing. Many of his pieces are painstakingly
hand stitched, with every stitch hole individually prepared before the leather is
sewn.
Because each piece is individually handcrafted, no two are ever exactly alike.
Every belt, bag and hat is unique, with its own character and individuality. The
result is functional, distinctive leatherwork made to be enjoyed and loved for many
years.

I’m buzzing this morning! I’ve been chatting to 3 amazing foodies for our next Ocean Road Magazine article. Cafe culture in the hinterland is in its own league. It’s about the highest quality produce, honest nourishing food, challenging our palettes while nailing the basics and throwing a truck load of love for food and community into the mix. How lucky are we.

Commissioning a piece of art from a local artist you love is easier than you think.

This beautiful work by J Corby was commissioned by Lou after discovering his work at Doyles Art Award this year.

Memories of days spent fishing in the rock pools at Hastings point now captured forever. Congratulations on this stunning piece of work John.

Chef Akash pours his heart into every dish and you can certainly taste it in this New Zealand lamb rack, marinated in saffron masala yogurt and char-grilled in the tandoori oven.

Indian cooking at its very best right here in Mudgeeraba.
