STAY — BUT DON'T LOSE YOURSELF⚡

September's first pairing might sound like two completely different messages.

“Do You Mind” — Galantis asks us to stay a little longer. To stop worrying about what comes next and let ourselves enjoy the person, the feeling or the moment we're in.

Then “Repeat” — Anees draws the boundary around that idea: protect your energy, remember your worth, and don't keep giving pieces of yourself to things that don't deserve them.

And maybe we need both.

Because protecting yourself doesn't have to mean shutting everyone out. Knowing your worth doesn't mean never taking a chance. And healing doesn't mean we stop letting ourselves feel good things when they arrive.

Sometimes it's about learning what deserves a place in our lives — and what doesn't.

Stay for what makes you feel alive.
Protect yourself from what makes you disappear.

If you can’t wait - check out the September playlist and pairings now on BTN Music Club.

WE’RE BACK ⚡🎶

August went a little quiet at BTN Music Club.

Sometimes life gets louder than the music, and over the last month I simply needed to step away for a while.

But September is here, the music is playing again, and I've got 12 new tracks ready to share with you.

This month's collection feels a little more personal.

These are songs about remembering who you are. Knowing you deserve to be here.
Protecting your energy without closing yourself off from the world. Loving through the highs and lows, letting go of what no longer serves you, finding the courage to speak up — and remembering that sometimes we're also allowed to just have some fun.

Do You Mind — Galantis
Repeat — Anees
Highs & Lows — Alexander Jean
Belong — Mark Wilkinson
Shell — MINOE
My Mouth (la la la) — ISHAN
Illusions — Grace Kinstler
Sleepwalking — Skinny Living
Salem Witch — Lilith Max
Wonder — Spencer Sutherland
Receipts — CYNTA
Fendi 2 — Rakhim, Khim & ayv1o

Twelve very different songs, but somehow they all found their place in September.

Maybe one of them will find you exactly when you need it too.

New month. New music. BTN is back. ⚡

Im just catching up on everything- but what an amazing performance this was!! And I'm looking forward to seeing Mark again soon!🎶💙

Mark Wilkinson set the tone with a beautifully heartfelt opening performance before Katie Noonan invited the audience into an evening where every song carried a story. From the emotional depth of Alone but all one to reflections on creativity, resilience and human connection, this was more than a co...

BTN Music Club is a one-man show... sometimes the music gets quiet..

Behind every photo, article, review, email, website update and post is just one slightly chaotic Uncle Tatt trying to keep everything running and the music playing.

And sometimes, life gets in the way🙄

Things have been a little quieter around here lately, but I haven't disappeared.

I'm still working away behind the scenes, still getting out when I can, still photographing gigs, and still doing my best to support the incredible artists who keep giving us reasons to listen.

We'll get back to our usual updates, reviews and general musical chaos again soon.

For now, stick with me💙

The music always finds its way back ⚡🎷

Okay, my internet has been so bad that I'm only NOW able to share this! 😅

Last weekend we headed to BREC to cover the amazing John Standley from this season of Australian Idol — otherwise known as Johnny Jukebox — for The Greatest Hits Homecoming.

And what a homecoming it was 🎶

A packed theatre, merch sold out before the first song, generations singing along together, moonwalking, handstands, heartfelt tributes and a whole lot of love from Bunbury for one of its own.

But what stayed with me most wasn't any single song — it was the community.

From kids to grandparents, dancers of all ages, Johnny's family and former music teacher, to an entire theatre cheering every mention of Bunbury, this was so much more than an Idol homecoming.

Sometimes music doesn't just entertain us. It reminds us what bringing people together can look like ❤️

The best nights of live music aren't just about the headline act—they're about the community that comes together to make it happen.

From Oakabella Mae's unforgettable apple-eating audience participation and heartfelt folk storytelling, to Airline Food's immersive psychedelic energy, before The Forever Party transformed The Wyola into one giant shared experience, this was one of those nights that reminded me exactly why I keep making the trip.

Sometimes the best stories aren't found between the songs... they're found between the people.

Monday nights are usually where we kick off another week of music discoveries. We've missed a few lately because life has been throwing some very real sucker punches at Uncle Tatt. The music might fall silent from time to time, but it'll always find its way back. Today also would've been Tay's birthday, so tonight's song feels especially fitting.

The Day the Music Died (American Pie) – Jade Bird

Rather than trying to recreate Don McLean's iconic original, Jade Bird strips everything back and lets the emotion breathe. Her acoustic interpretation feels intimate and reflective, reminding us why this song has continued to resonate across generations.

Music has an incredible way of finding us in the moments when words fall short. Tonight, this one feels less like a cover and more like a quiet conversation with everyone who's ever carried someone's memory with them.

After sharing today's article featuring Mark Wilkinson and Katie Noonan, it felt only right to spend Friday night with one of Mark's own songs. If you've only just discovered his music, this is a beautiful place to start.

Embrace the Ride – Mark Wilkinson

One of Mark Wilkinson's greatest strengths as a songwriter is his ability to turn life's biggest questions into something that feels quietly personal. Embrace the Ride doesn't pretend the road is easy—it simply reminds us that sometimes the answers come when we stop fighting every twist and turn.

It's thoughtful without being heavy, hopeful without being overdone, and another reminder of why Mark continues to connect so deeply with audiences wherever he performs.

Sometimes the most memorable moments of a concert aren't the biggest—they're the quiet ones.

Late in the evening, Katie Noonan welcomed Mark Wilkinson back to the stage for a beautiful duet, and for a few minutes it felt like the entire room simply stopped to listen.

It's moments like these that remind you why live music is so special. Two incredible storytellers, one stage, and a song shared with complete honesty.

This duet was just one of many highlights from an unforgettable night at The Rechabite.

Mark is going to be back later this year with his own tour- so you have a chance to hear some amazing songs LIVE!

I've captured the full story—including why this evening was about so much more than the music—in my latest BTN feature.

Some songs become so iconic that most artists wouldn't dare touch them. Every now and then, though, someone comes along with a fresh perspective that makes you hear them all over again.

Bohemian Rhapsody – Angelina Jordan

Taking on a Queen masterpiece at just 13 years old was a bold move, but Angelina Jordan didn't try to imitate Freddie Mercury—she trusted her own voice. Stripping away the rock opera and replacing it with a soulful, jazz-inspired performance, she revealed a completely different side of a song millions thought they already knew.

That's the beauty of music. A truly great song isn't defined by one performance or one genre. In the right hands, it can keep evolving while still honouring the original.
