We finished up the screenings with Session 5 on Saturday , LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE with local entry BAD DATE from Gipsy Rigatos and Kiana Murphy from Sapphire Coast Acting Studio, animation BOGAN BIRD from Holly Trenaman & Tyrone McCrystal ( Wollongong) , HELLO REAPER from Kevin Friesen (Hervey Bay ,Queensland), and UNCAGED from Tara Carroll and Elise Stanfield, Producer Vienna Hill. (Kingston,Tasmania)

One of the highlights of the Festival this year was the Saturday afternoon Q&A Session - WHO TELLS OUR STORIES, moderated very skilfully by filmmaker and Screen Illawarra chair Nick Bolton.
On the panel (L to R) Shaun Foley (PREFER NOT TO SAY), Tamika Townsend (SALTWATER HOME), Moderator Nick Bolton, Uncle Warren Foster Snr (LOST), Robbie Townsend (SALTWATER HOME) and Nicole Smede ( GAGA WAKULDA).
It was a thought-provoking discussion on representation and diversity on screen, the importance and role of film in preserving and conveying language and culture, and how we as a community can move forward together in telling our stories on screen.

OUR BRIGHT DYSTOPIAN FUTURE: Session 4 on Saturday afternoon was home to some of our most accomplished regional filmmakers -Hadley Perkins from Coorabell, Northern Rivers NSW with STRANGE ATTRACTOR, Nick Bolton from Bulli, NSW with LUDOVIC (Best Performance, Best Use of Regional Location) and Festival regulars Tom K Goldie & Lachie Pasfield with their mockumentary 88 GONE - THE TRUE STORY OF A HIDE AND SEEK CULT.
Thought-provoking and somewhat disturbing in how the worlds depicted seem quite parallel to our reality...

Session 3 on Saturday 15 August was the Far South Film Festival Premiere of WINDSONG LIVE : HEATH CULLEN -THE SONG ALWAYS REMEMBERS.
Directed, filmed and recorded by .film and .caravan at the beautiful Windsong Pavilion at Barraga Bay, this was a wonderful hour of a front-row seat to the work of one of Australia's finest songwriters in action with his band.-Pete Wild, Matt Nightingale and Jay McMahon.The Festival was honoured to premiere this film and we look forward to more concerts in the Windsong Live series!

Saturday 15 August - The Twyford foyer was packed again, and the wonderful YAALA led by Tamika Townsend opened Festival Day with song and dance in Djiringanj. Session 1 - As it Happened - featured documentaries MY FRIEND ARTEMIS(Best Youth Film), GAGA WAKULDA (Best Diversity), THE CIRCLE (Best Call to Action), TALLAGANDA & BEYOND (Best Documentary) and SALTWATER HOME ( Best Technical Achievement, Best South East Film.)
