Our Secretary proudly represented Mildura Korean Community Inc. at the SMECC Multicultural Advisory Committee meeting last night.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with multicultural community leaders, learn about the Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative, and receive important information from the Australian Bureau of Statistics about the upcoming Census.

๐Ÿ“… This Friday, we will hold our Leaders' Meeting and plan our Annual General Meeting (AGM), where we will share our End of Year Annual Statement and discuss upcoming events and activities.
๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ An update was also provided regarding John Corea. The gravestone dedication ceremony has been postponed until later this year due to drainage works at the cemetery. We will share the new date once it is confirmed.

A huge thank you to one of our wonderful community members for sharing her knowledge and passion for making traditional Korean kimchi with our community at SMECC. It was a fun, hands-on, and engaging session where everyone learned new skills, shared stories, and enjoyed connecting through culture and food.

In Korea, Teachersโ€™ Dayโ€”์Šค์Šน์˜ ๋‚  (seuseung-ui nal / suh-seung-uh nal)โ€”is celebrated on May 15th. It is a day dedicated to honouring teachers and mentors who guide, inspire, and shape studentsโ€™ lives.
The word ์Šค์Šน (seuseung) carries a deep sense of respect, referring not just to school teachers, but to anyone who shares wisdom and helps shape oneโ€™s path in life. On this day, students traditionally express gratitude with carnations, handwritten letters, and heartfelt messages to say thank you for their dedication and care.
