Jo DaisY Art & Design

Jo DaisY Art & Design A botanical artist since 2018, I create vibrant art bringing nature's beauty to life in a fresh, modern way through traditional and digital watercolour.

I’m a botanical artist working in both traditional and digital watercolour. I love the unique qualities of each medium and enjoy blending classical techniques with a fresh, modern approach to bring nature’s beauty to life through vibrant, detailed artwork. My inspiration comes from the wonder of Creation itself. Time spent in nature is a tonic for my soul, and through my art I hope to capture that

beauty in a way that inspires joy in others. I’m blessed to live on a rural property in Victoria, Australia, surrounded by flowers, trees, sheep, and chickens—cared for with love by my best friend and husband, alongside our amazing children. I cherish simple things: family time, being outdoors, and meaningful, hands-on work. With a deep respect for the great naturalists of the past, whose work I can happily study for hours, my art is created with the intention of inviting both delight in the world around us and a moment of rest from it. Above all, I acknowledge the Original Artist who created it all. I came to art later in life while homeschooling my children, teaching them nature observation and sketching. Together, we collected little treasures and recorded them in our nature journals. What began as a desire to paint flowers for my own home grew into a deeper love for watercolour and the tradition and discipline of botanical illustration. I am mostly self-taught and continually learning. In 2024, I discovered Procreate and began applying the same principles and techniques to digital watercolour. This medium has allowed me to stretch creatively and push my artistic boundaries in ways I truly enjoy. My work is intended to inspire joy. Almost every piece is painted from my own photographs, taken during real encounters with birds, butterflies, flowers, and landscapes. Each artwork carries a memory, a moment of noticing what is often overlooked. Capturing these details is my way of practicing gratitude and sharing the quiet joy found in nature’s small wonders.

A question for April: if someone walked into your home and had to describe how it felt without referencing the furniture or the decor (just the feeling) what would you want them to say?

That answer has a lot to do with the work you choose for your walls. Art sets the emotional tone in a way that paint and furniture rarely can.

Would love to hear your answer in the comments. And if you are still working toward that feeling, "Number My Days" might be worth a look.

Earth Day is a good time to think about how we consume, and art is part of the conversation.

Investing in something made with care, designed to last, and tied to a specific practice is a great way to engage in mindful consumption. My work is made to last.

"Madagascan Dream" is that kind of work. Happy Earth Day!

There is a reason people often buy art during transitions. A new home. A new chapter. The end of something or the beginning of something else.

Art has always served as a personal marker, a way of saying, "This is where I was when I chose this." Your collection of wall art sort of becomes your biography.

What chapter are you in right now?

Would "Greenhoods" be a good fit?
