PENNANT BOWLS WRAP
Our Pennant season has finally been completed.
The Saturday 12-a-side team finished the season in 2nd position, only to be beaten in the Sectional Semi Final by Mordialloc.
The Tuesday Midweek 6-a-side team finished the season in 3rd position, and played Berwick #6 in the Sectional Semi Final winning, and then losing to Berwick #5 in Final.
The Thursday Midweek 7-a-side team finished the season in 7th position.
Our SDELBC team on Tuesday night finished last but with quite a few newer bowlers playing in competition for the first time they will be better for the experience. This was Black Rock Sports Club's 68th continuous year in this competition.
Notable performances were:
Of the 83 players in the section on a Tuesday, Bernie Ryan was ranked #1, Betts Retief #3 and John Angwin #9.
Of the 190 players in the section on Saturday, Bill Begg was ranked #4, Charlie McCullagh #7, Tony Mogg #10, Ray Rutherford #17, Peter Schofield #18, Betts Retief #19 & Bernie Ryan #20.
So as a result for the Bowls Section it was a reasonably successful season.
If anyone is interested in a social game against the Tattersalls Bowls Club on Monday 4th April they can get in touch with me on 0402 302 621. It is 12.30pm for a 1pm start and finishes by 4pm with afternoon tea @ $10.00 per head.
To all Members have a good holiday from bowls if you are going away and come back safe and sound for the 2022-23 season.

Friday nights are for barefoot bowls and bevies at the new bowls bar! #brsc #barefootbowls #beers #local
How amazing is our new outdoor bar at the bowling green? This will ensure parched bowlers can grab a drink, snag and bowl all at the same place. We hope to also use for outdoor functions and keep enjoying the sunshine whilst avoiding queues at the bar! A well done to the team that made this happen. #brsc #lawnbowls #bowlsbar #barefootbowls #local
Weather not looking great for Barefoot Bowls tonight. Wet weather plan in effect…. Beer, darts and a few games of pool. Come down to the club from 4:30pm, bar will be open and a dry place to hang out until the weather passes.
Thanks to everyone who made it down to the club yesterday for Australia Day. It was a scorcher but we had some great snags from Black Rock Village Meats, music from Kirby JZ & me, Harry the piano man and our President Art. Congratulations to Brad Muscat for winning the thong toss with a throw of 32.6m winning the amazing trophy and a chocolate hamper kindly donated by Brad Rowswell MP.
Why make mess at your own place when Australia Day is smack bang in the middle of the working week! Come down for a snag, listen to some live music and grab a drink. 12:30pm onwards, bring your friends and family. Thong toss competition in the afternoon, who can throw the thong the furthest? How Aussie is that! #brsc #local #australiaday2022 #livemusic #familyfun
