Deadline: Monday October 18th.

The episode will screen on Thursday October 21st.

Government may try forcing Facebook to identify anonymous users

The social disaster of Australia continues to unfold. Yet the ones most needing to be held accountable aren't disgruntled "anonymous" social media users - it's the leadership of abject governments themselves.

The federal government may try to force Facebook to gather more identification information on their users and hand it over to authorities if asked.

Whatsapp and even Telegram & Signal are far from secure or encrypted. Perhaps the content is "encrypted", but the deep Meta Data helps identify just about everything else - who you associate with, where you are, any illicit behaviour you might be up to. Don't trust news or marketing. None of these present technologies are that secure or private, so be careful.

Anyasa is bringing Indian traditional music and electronic sounds to the world

Anjunabeats is the globe-spanning record label set up by trance veterans Above & Beyond. Anjunadeep is the more eclectic, experimental offshoot, home to a range of underground favourites including Ben Böhmer, Luttrell and Yotto.

What you may not be aware of is that Anjuna is also a beach town in North Goa, India – famous, among other things, for legendary parties dating back to the 1960s. Perhaps most famous (or indeed infamous) of these were the classic psychedelic or Goa trance parties of the 90s and 00s from which Above & Beyond took inspiration for the name. Yet amazingly, neither Anjuna imprint has ever released a record from an Indian artist, not to mention a Goan. Until now…

Australia seek to make amends for its dark "Stolen Generation" history, that you should look up if you've not previously heard of it. This shameful nation also was the original instigator of Apartheid in South Africa.

"The Australian government announced on Thursday that it will pay reparations to members of its indigenous population who were forcibly removed from their families as children.

More than 100,000 indigenous children — known as the Stolen Generation — were taken from their families between the 1900 and 1970. Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd described it as a “great stain on our nation’s soul”.

Members of the Stolen Generation who are still alive will now be able to claim AU$75,000 (£39,800) in reparations. They will also be given support to address their health needs.

The Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the reparations scheme was intended “to say formally, not just that we’re deeply sorry for what happened, but that we will take responsibility for it.”

The Healing Foundation, which represents indigenous communities, said the reparations were “a major step in the healing journey of Stolen Generations survivors”. It urged the government to provide trauma support to those affected as part of the scheme."
