Non-white Actress needed for a dialogue heavy role in a play reading at Heidelberg Theatre Company The role is the close friend to a couple in the midst of breaking up, torn between supporting both of them. No accent (cliche or otherwise) is wanted or necessary. The role is written as Chinese Australian but race plays no part in the play, so with very little script changes, the actress can be anyone from European through to Chinese, or African, or South American .... basically just not white! The play is called Guardian Angel, and it explores male entitlement and how it does (or doesn't) cope with relationship breakdown. Please PM me or email [email protected] if you might be interested and I can send you a script. I am looking to fill this role as soon as possible so work can begin.

#flashbackfriday 2011; Earthquakes hit NE Japan, unleashing a 10-metre tsunami, US forces kill al-Qaida leader, Osama bin Laden, & Prince William marries Catherine Middleton. Back home, The History Boys was staged at Heidelberg Theatre Company and directed by Bruce Akers- pictured are Juliet Hayday, Peter Maver and Tim Constantine. It got various noms at VDL awards & picked up Best Sound Design silver (Neil Williamson). Thanks Juliet for pic. Feel free to submit your own #fbf via pm- does not need to be an award show.
#samesamebutdifferent The 2nd in this series brings us Under Milkwood by Dylan Thomas, a radio drama commissioned by the BBC in 1954 - though some lines came from earlier writings by Thomas dating back to 1931 and he recorded a draft reading in 1953 - the only known recording of Thomas in the role of First Voice-he died in Nov 1953! Actor Richard Burton reprised his radio role in the 1972 film adaptation, and also featured Elizabeth Taylor and Peter O'Toole. Plot - An omniscient narrator invites the audience to listen to the dreams and innermost thoughts of the inhabitants of the fictional small Welsh fishing village, Llareggub (read the name of the town backwards!). Heidelberg Theatre Company took this epic on in 2011 directed by Chris Baldock with the cast undertaking movement and all voices as characters, including splitting the 1st and 2nd Voice narrator's lines. Williamstown Little Theatre had their turn last year in June 2018 with director Sandy Green staging it as was originally intended; a radio play with a central narrator and other voices. This is a beautiful play for voices (in Welsh accents) and both were unique and equally brilliant in their own way. The photos by Patricia Tyler and Roger Forsey respectively show great spirit, lighting, costumes and set considerations. (**Feel free to submit your own idea for this feature where you know a play has been performed by at least 2 or more companies over the years)
