Preps made these colourful shape compositions with liquid watercolours to stamp foam block shapes and tape rolls. I plan for the kids to use them as a background, but they are actually really lovely as is!

I gave students in Year 3-6 the option of entering their sports jersey design into the Bayside Ellen Jose Reconciliation Awards. A few students chose to enter, and a Year 6 student’s entry won the Year 4-6 section and a Year 3 came 3rd in Prep to Year 3 section! Ellen Jose (1951-2017) was a Torres Strait elder, an artist, and resident of Bayside Melbourne for 25 years. She was a campaigner for social justice and inspirational for raising awareness of reconciliation. These Year 5 students came up with some fabulous designs and are on display at school for Reconciliation Week. (27th June - July 3rd).

Year 1 students drew a tree shape and used texture tools to add Autumn “leaves” with warm colours.

Gorgeous Autumn leaves by Year 1s. They used paint sticks in warm colours first to colour a traced leaf shape. Cool colours were then used to add outlines and veins. (Even though I demonstrated how to draw the lines for the veins, we have some variations! 😅)
Thank you for the inspiration! 💞
