MOMENTS OF STILLNESS showing at the Bunjil Place Library Art Space until Sunday 31 March...

This art exhibition ‘Moments of Stillness’ examines visual art as a response to our life in lockdown and is an expression of Yoge’s personal learnings, that in a tumultuous world, be grateful for small things, big things, and everything in between.

Yoge’s still life artworks discover the beauty of fruits and vegetables that we encounter on an everyday basis, and her vibrant colour palette emotes 'colourjoy'! She hopes that it adds so much needed colour into the lives of people and serve as a reminder to all who view her artworks that a brighter day lies ahead.

City of Casy's latest public artwork at Eliston Family and Community centre in Clyde, Vic was inspired by local childrens drawings of the renowned Cranbourne meteorites and the inside of a meteorite rock. Artist Steven Carson's masterful use of colour and pattern is seen in these intensely coloured sun shade artworks. Suspended above the viewer, they joyfully intergrate into the facade and playground bringing a new interpretation to the meteorite story for the Casey community. #sunshade #tasmanianartist #cityofcasey #publicart #urbandesigner #artinpublicplaces

Meet Your South East Artists: @kathleenkendallartist

Hello from @kathleenkendallartist !

⭐️ I work with a range of mediums from glass to paper.

⭐️ I am very inspired by recycled art right now and have been working on pieces which use magazines.

⭐️ Random things spark my imagination, I like shape and structure and colour. I currently have a box of cardboard rolls and egg cartons that I intend to manipulate into an image. Might work might not but better to try and fail than not try at all.

⭐️ I originally wanted to have a style so that anyone could look at my work and know it’s mine, but I am having too much fun exploring so many mediums that I have decided to just do what I want to do and flow where the inspiration takes me.

⭐️ I have painted a series of cats as I wanted to try out a loose style of painting inspired by Anh Do with his palette knives.

Be sure to check out Kathleen’s exhibition at the Cranbourne Library Art Space, open from December 7 during library opening hours.

Another excellent FREE workshop in the Celebrating Me series!

Have you seen our 'Celebrating Me: Online Art Workshop' series?
Coming up on Thursday 9 December, we'll be creating flower crowns with artist Belle Formica. Making a flower crown is a beautiful way to celebrate nature and the local plants that are around you. It's also a great, compostable option to wear to your next festive event plus its definitely more fun than buying a hat or headpiece!
We encourage participants to use only natural materials that they can gather from their local area, to keep this workshop environmentally friendly.

Find out what else you'll need to make a fun flower crown and register to participate through our website.

Meet Your South East Artists: Danielle Mac @dmac.art

⭐️ “I’m an abstract expressionist and mixed media artist.”

⭐️ “My process heavily revolves around intuitive painting processes and emotive responses. It’s more so about the experience and journey I undergo while creating the artwork, rather than the finished piece. Artist’s who really inspired my interpretation of process include Jackson Pollock, Ben Quilty, Ian Davenport and Del Kathryn Barton”

⭐️ “I don’t like to limit myself so I dabble in a little bit of everything, and try to push my practice both physically and digitally. However some of my go to’s include acrylic paint, oil pastels and using photoshop.

Meet Your South East Artists: Joshua Lee Modina @sonlikesrice

⭐️ Australian-Filipino artist Joshua Lee Modina aka. @sonlikesrice explores ideas of Asian stereotypes, character traits and the derogatory comments - disguised as jokes - that are often directed his way.

⭐️ Completing a Bachelor of Arts at RMIT, Melbourne in 2021, Modina works in oil and acrylic paints to create paintings and installations that depict scenes expressing the experiences and memories of his life in Australia since moving from the Philippines a decade ago.

Meet Your South East Artists: Monique Clift - Artist

⭐️ I work across a range of mediums and processes including ceramics, printmaking and painting. My current body of work is in acrylic paint and oil pastel.

⭐️ I am influenced by artists including Margaret Preston whose iconically Australian subject matter and colour pallets resonate with me. I am also inspired by the dynamic compositions and strong use of shadow in the paintings of Jeffrey Smart.

⭐️ The subject matter of my work is drawn from the natural environment but tends to have a personal narrative. I grew up running free on a farm and bushland setting in Upper Pakenham. A child of creative parents who encouraged study in the visual arts, my work also reflects aspects of childhood memories, craft and personal symbols.
