Thanks for hosting me, I had an absolute ball with you all.
The festival finishes this weekend. Well worth the trip south if you haven't already been.

A worthwhile discussion topic for everyone living around the bay. Im looking to help make some head way on the quality of the water going in the bay. This is the number one question in my seaweed forages. Tune in!

We’re celebrating this World Wetlands Day with an online chat with some very knowledgeable locals on Saturday 5 Feb, 11:30 til 12:30.

One of the key roles of wetlands is to be a final filter of stormwater between the land and the bay. But is the current stormwater management system working well enough to save our wetlands from degradation?

Grab a cuppa and join us for a chat with some of our land managers, water engineers and aquatic scientists to learn more about what is happening and explore ways to improve the flow at water into Port Phillip Bay.

Seaweed pressing is a serious science but can also be turned into a fun beech activity! Algae researcher Dr Anusuya Willis showed us how.

Have you heard of Nature Journaling? It's the art of sitting in nature and recording what you see by hand. It's becoming a hugely popular nature therapy in Australia.

The practice slows you down, increases your mindfulness and enhances your appreciation of nature's beauty.

Thanks to my morning talk to Bunjil, we had two almost rain free Seaweed forage sessions yesterday. The weather actually worked in our favour with a great array of algae to investigate and the water was quite warm.

A guide for students and absolute beginners – technically accurate, but free of technical language – this is an attempt to present a little known part of the plant kingdom to a new audience.

Our Winter Seaweed Ramble is coming up next month. It will include a forage and a making session as restrictions have finally eased enough. CRossing fingers it stays that way. Start your morning with a forage at Katies Cove, Williamstown and walk back to the Anglers Club to create some Seaweed goodies and eat.
Come and share some Wakame soup with us. Get in quick though, only 5 spots left.

Ok, you all keep asking so here it is, the first one the Edible weed walks. Treat yourself to a day trip out to the Goldfields. The harvest will be well and truly worth it.
There are two chances to come for this one, Saturday the 22nd and the Thursday the 27th. This includes an id and collection walk and then a making session. It's going to be so much fun.
Hope to see you at one of them :)

This artist's painting has been stolen 'countless' times online, so she's chasing thieves down one-by-one

Just a reminder that artists retain copyright of images they create. So even if you buy an original artwork you can't just scan it and reproduce it on merchandise. You need to gain permission from the artist and / or the artwork needs to be created for the purpose or licensed for a period of use.
This seems a constant battle for illustrators. Good on you Cheryl Hodges for making the point public.

Cheryl Hodges has seen her work all across the internet— but she isn't letting people get away with art theft.

A Likin' for Lichen

To further fuel your interest in Lichen. This little clip by Costa and Dr Cathy Offord show how to grow a lichen garden. Apparently a good way to age pottery and as it can grown on lots of surfaces this formula may be of interest to those of you making props or garden statues. I must be due for a trip to Mt Annan Botanical garden. Last time I was there they were growing Wollemi Pine in the lab. :)

It was such a beautiful day for last weekends Autumn Seaweed Ramble. Some of the seaweed superstars of the day were Sea Rimu - Caulerpa brownii; Sea Grapes - Caulerpa hodkinsonii; Caulerpa flexilis and Champia affinis (Pink segmented weed) and Sea lettuce - Ulva australis.

Thanks to Sarah and Bronagh from Alg Seaweed for sharing their yummy seaweed treats. Also to the fab group of people that came along for the experience.

Hope to see you at the Winter Ramble on the 12th June. We will be back to cook-ups at the Willy Anglers Club. So looking forward to the Wakame soup this year.
