Francesco Minniti and Kara Hawkins return to CUTTING OMENS: From Dystopia to Utopia, bringing works first developed and shown through Adelaide Fringe — including original pieces that found new homes along the way.

For Kara, this year has marked a real breakout as a stencil artist, pushing further into her own visual language and building momentum around a rapidly evolving body of work.

Frank brings more than 15 years of stencil practice to the exhibition, continuing to explore the darker, more industrial and dystopian visual world that helped form the DNA of Cutting Omens in the first place.

Together, they are the original creative force behind the project — shaping the exhibition, the world around it, and the space between dystopia and utopia.

The final artist enters the fray.

We’re excited to introduce Nicholas Sampson, working under the alias SAMPS, as the final artist joining CUTTING OMENS: From Dystopia to Utopia.

Samps comes from a background in digital illustration, bringing a unique visual language into the world of stencil art. His work draws on the precision, layering and composition of digital image-making, translated into something much more physical through stencil, paint and texture.

Cutting Omens will mark Samps’ debut as a stencil artist, and we’re incredibly excited to see this new side of his work emerge as part of the exhibition.

With the full artist lineup now revealed, the world of Cutting Omens is starting to come together.

Meet Dan O’Loughlin, the latest artist joining CUTTING OMENS: From Dystopia to Utopia.

Here’s a first sneak peek at one of Dan’s new pieces currently taking shape for the exhibition.

Cutting Omens brings together a collection of artists inside an immersive world moving between dystopia and utopia. Art, light, sound and atmosphere collide to create something a little darker than your standard gallery night.

Got a room that needs to become a theatre? We can help with that.
Late last year, we returned to the Williamstown Italian Social Club — a once-iconic theatre space — and helped bring it back to its performance roots for the touring production of The Italian Divorce.
The project involved rethinking the room from a lighting perspective and creating a practical theatrical setup inside a space that isn’t operating as a traditional theatre.
That’s a big part of what we do at After Dark Theatre.
We work with theatres, halls, warehouses, function spaces and unconventional venues to create lighting, staging and sound systems and designs that suit the room, the production and the budget.
