Sharing a little more of the process behind this portrait study ✨

Lately I’ve been trying to approach portraiture with a softer and more intuitive mindset: allowing washes to stay transparent, edges to disappear, and colour to do more of the emotional work.

I’m always experimenting while painting and testing different ways of building form without over-rendering everything. Sometimes the most interesting parts happen in the layers that feel unresolved.

Excited to keep sharing more of these in-between stages with my students and here as well 🌈
