One year ago today was my last DJ shift at Miss Moses, and in fact also my most recent DJ shift anywhere. The coronavirus has changed life as we know it, and perhaps gone on longer than most of us had predicted (or, at least, were hoping).
The bar/hospitality and music industries here in Melbourne have been among the most impacted in these past twelve months. Many music venues have either shut down completely, or else drastically altered their businesses to make the best of a bad situation.
DJs and musicians had to find other ways to perform, such as gigging online over social media, from home or from empty spaces, in front of no live crowds.
As life continues to open back up, I find myself once again behind the bar at Miss Moses, mixing drinks rather than music. Come on in and say gβday.
Music in Melbourne will never die.
