Opera Scholars Australia Program is a non-profit organisation that fosters the vocal development of young classical singers between the ages of 18 and 28 in Australia. Established in 1998, Opera Scholars Australia has been around for 22 successful years of developing young artists.

Join us as six finalists sing for the 2026 Opera Scholars Australia Aria Award 🌟

An annual highlight of the OSA calendar, each finalist will perform 2 contrasting arias, accompanied by Rhodri Clarke. Hosted by Artistic and Program Director Alexander Lewis and adjudicated by acclaimed soprano Helena Dix, the evening will also feature a performance by the full OSA ensemble.

OSA will present Songs for All Seasons at Christ Church Beechworth next Friday 18th September | 7:30pm 💫

Celebrate the changing seasons of the heart with the Opera Scholars Graduate Program artists, led by Program Director Alexander Lewis, for an enchanting evening that journeys through love, longing, joy and renewal. ‘Songs for all seasons’ weaves together the beauty of German Lieder, English art song and operatic masterpieces, capturing emotions from every season of life: from the poetic worlds of Schubert, Schumann, Richard Strauss, Vaughan Williams and Aaron Copland to works by Mozart and others. Featuring a performance by Beechworth Secondary College a capella voices, it’s sure to be a wonderful night.

London calling 🇬🇧

We spoke with OSA graduate Chloe Taylor on her upcoming move to London. Chloe has been accepted into the Masters of Music and Performance course at The Royal College of Music and we couldn’t be more proud. Here’s what Chloe has to say about her time at OSA before we wish her the biggest toi toi toi for her next endeavours - relocating to the UK in September ❣️

✨ Tell us about your beginnings with OSA…
When I first started at OSA I felt pretty new to the world of opera. I had just finished my Bachelor and was beginning my Masters so I was still quite fresh to the art form itself. However, being surrounded by such a supportive, welcoming, warm and talented cohort every week of varying ages and experience, I soon felt myself immersed and learning so much. Not just on the stage - sharing repertoire, and interpretation, but also off the stage, like becoming the best colleague you can and learning how to balance this career we’ve chosen with life.

✨ What have you gained from this program?
OSA has given me the platform to grow as an artist. Through a multitude of means, including masterclasses, 1-1 coachings and performances, I have developed so much and have really come into my own as a performer.

✨ What are you most excited for in this next chapter?Meeting new people and making new connections, particularly in a city with such a long and established artistic history. Also for the shows available - hello Covent Garden and West End!!! 🙌🏽

Come join us for an afternoon of wonderful music and exceptional talent, accompanied by Phillipa Safey and Rhodri Clarke, with guest adjudicators Lee Abrahmsen & Michael Petruccelli 💫
