Today we visited the Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed. Far from being just for men it’s also filled with amazing spaces where community are woodworking, car building, making music, being tech savvy, building theatre sets and making kilns for ceramics! I’m really hoping to collab with this fabulous community and maybe even fire up the kiln together for a veteran event 🔥🔥🔥 Hobsons Bay Mens Shed And Community Workshops Bek Ann

Today I want to acknowledge someone special. Vashti, my volunteer peer support and admin wiz, an Army Veteran, has finally received her Australian Defence Medal. It is a significant moment of recognition, and one that is long overdue.

Medals are often seen as symbols of years served or deployments but they can never tell the full story of service. Vashti's willingness to put on the uniform and put something greater than her first is valuable beyond measure. Today, she continues that service - through her work with me and Fragments of Service, she walks alongside veterans, reminding people they are not alone.

Congratulations Vashti. Your contribution matters and your story shows that we are measured by our lasting impact on others - not just the number of deployments or time in service.

When you come to a workshop or a talk, make sure you say a warm hello to Vashti!!

🙂 our shrine in Melbourne is an amazing place that holds veteran stories. I share this with a genuine excitement to hear the stories of those who come to remember at the Shrine. I also acknowledge the shoes I have to fill - Annette Holian served as a Shrine Governor and I am humbled by her service as an Air Force surgeon and her dedication to supporting the work of the Shrine.

Warmly welcomed at Veterans MC Victoria Chapter, where veterans, partners and supporters come together in a way that feels like family. Looking forward to making some pots with this genuine and supportive veteran community.
