Yay. Final print ‘cinerea’ finally finished.

This project started in February this year as part of the which finished in May 😅. It took me awhile but I’m proud I actually finished and didn’t abandon it. I was worried I was heading that way as I felt myself losing interest. But definitely tap on the back; I got through it. Well done me lol.

This print is part of the aus native flora series, I’m slowly working on.

Ah this has taken awhile.
But Final image finally transferred.
I copied via transfer paper which is the most time consuming but my preferred as it gives me more control and I don’t have a laser printer.
Carbon paper moves a lot and I can’t see what I’m doing. So this will do for now.
Apparently inkjet doesn’t transfer through so I’ve never bothered trying.
But maybe I should? Hmmm.
But to be honest I don’t mind the slow way.
Anyway time to carve.

Yay test print! From yesterday.
Bit rusty.
I may have over inked the paint roller.
Then when I woke this morning,
I realised I should’ve wiped the over inked parts with cotton buds instead of washing the whole lino.
Or just kept reprinting. Until I got the desired result.
I shall try again. Maybe.
But thinking of just taking the leap and doing the final carve.
I’m dawdling too much I feel.
I think I have to think of this like an assignment I need to hand in.
Due date is this week.
I’m lucky the teacher is kind.
lol.

Ready to print.
Although I just remembered I changed the design yesterday and forgot to implement it. Gosh golly.
Kicking myself a little.
Have to retrace.
Which is ok. More practice the better.

Also finally used my pfeil tools.
Which is like a dream to carve with. The lines are so delicate. Love it.

Oooh trial carving for my aust native flora fabric collection and also week 2 of 100 day project 🥰🥰🥰

Partaking in .

I am revisiting an old project I started back in 2023—creating a mini collection of Australian native flora fabric patterns.

This sketch is of Eucalyptus cinerea.

In the spring, when their leaves are at their freshest, they take on this beautiful blue-green colour that stops me in my tracks. I am in awe, appreciative of its beauty and filled with gratitude with joy.

I am also piggybacking (as suggested) some habits I want to start or strengthen:
- Wake at 5
- Sleep when the kids go to bed
- Exercise
- Tidy/declutter

So far, so good—I’ve only missed a couple of days, except for waking at 5, this one is hard. I can only seem to wake at 6, which I still consider a pat on the back because who else will.

Hello, it has been awhile.

Back to basics with some quick squiggles.

30 second drawing.
Unsure if it really took 30 seconds but it
Definitely felt like it - and looks it too lol.
Walking with my adventurer butterfly,
I couldn’t stay in one spot for more than a minute
Without being nagged constantly to keep walking.

It was also Max’s 15th birthday a couple of weeks ago.
I can’t believe I have a 15 year old.
Sometimes I feel like I’m still 15, unsure how to navigate
Life, getting upset and feeling attacked by adults lol.

On a different note, I am actually thinking of merging my personal account
And this account together.
But can’t fully jump on the decision yet.
My logic brain seem to believe that my artwork should be separate.
Which I get.
These past 6 months though have made me realise that having two accounts feels like a divide within myself.
Perhaps, I’m feeling this way because I’m not working on anything in particular.
Therefore I feel lost as to where my creative endeavours is heading.
In saying that though, maybe I am too worried on the destination instead
Of focusing more on the journey.

Which is what creativity is;
The journey.

Here I was thinking, making art is easy peasy.

Finding (or trying to find) the self through photographs.

Is it possible to capture the self. The essence of self. The one that no one can see. The consciousness. Is that even possible? And if so, how?

Where does the self reside?

This series was shot with a remote shutter. I was hoping it would capture the self without the conscious knowing, through a meditative state.

Going through the images, I had a realisation that despite having no control of the images captured, I found myself sensing the self within the images, like I was looking through the lens. It was quite bizarre, and amazing.

This image was taken for an assessment in Cert III Photo. I wanted to learn more about shutter drag. Im pretty sure I ended up moving the camera in this instance as trying to get the model to move with the shutter was challenging. I can’t remember whether I used flash either. Hoping to learn more about this type of photography at night.
