Radio Laria with Amy Bodossian and Vasi Samudra Devi
Libary Portal, Thursday, 16 April 2026 7:00 PM

Radio Laria is having an autumnal rebirth in amongst the beautiful, book-lined walls of Library Portal (opposite 11 Hawthorn Rd, Northcote). We are excited and thrilled to be featuring the heart-wrenching Amy Bodossian and the passionate Vasi Samudra Devi! Amy is an outstandingly talented poet, songbird, cabaret star and comic who loves and is well loved, by Radio Laria. Vasi Samudra Devi is an artist, poet, theatre maker, activist and dedicated step-mum with a boundless energy to resist and create. Vasi will treating us to her spoken word and art (with the help of the projector…) We are equally excited to get our open mic flowing and everyone is welcome to share (ten spots available, five-minute limit, sign up on the night, and arriving early is recommended for sign up).
The audience is very supportive, and we welcome new readers. Men are welcome to share on the open mic, but please be mindful that this is a night to promote women and women-identifying poets, and we ask that you behave respectfully. If you have another form of art, writing or storytelling that could be shared in five minutes, then we’d love to experience it!

Library Portal is a grassroots community centre run by volunteers for passionate readers and art groups. You can help yourselves to free tea and coffee, but there is no licensed bar. We are allowed to BYO drink/food as long as we are mindful that it is not a party space. This space is also right next to an apartment block, so we need to please leave quietly at the end of the night.

I am happy and excited to announce that Radio Laria Poetry will be BACK at Library Portal (opposite 11 Hawthorn Rd, Northcote/Naarm) at 7pm on Thursday 16th April. This is a beautiful, community-led meeting place run for passionate readers, and art groups. If you are curious, pop in at the weekend to browse their books and say hello, they are very friendly. We are going to run for the rest of 2026 as a monthly event (third Thursday of each month). I (as in Laura) need to invite features and start getting the event planned, so please keep following this page, or our website radiolariapoetry.com or melbournepoetry.com (thanks Es Foong!) for more announcements. Please share this news far and wide… tell your friends, family, people at the tram-stop, cats… (although the cats probably won’t come…) and I can’t wait to see you on Thursday 16th April! Radio Laria is ALIVE with new cells being born… https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.libraryportal.net%2F&data=05%7C02%7C%7Cb138a6176e5947bc652308de67c4f678%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C639062292794773727%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=Wtfu8pp1%2FO8XXmCCGT6BlfCJ5zNDfmHcWJA8n5yiMwI%3D&reserved=0
