Caroline Varendorff Images Making fine art. Oil painting, drawing (graphite/charcoal). Born in Manly NSW and spent childhood running around between the bush and the beach at Deewhy.

The youngest of five with my two elder brothers both Sydney artists and one older sister an artist and sculptor. So, surrounded by art as I grew up I learned a lot without actually getting a degree. I attended what was then called East Sydney Tech and did a course in bronze casting, and during my three years in Holland I attended the Vrije Psychopolis Akademie for Beeldende Kunsten (the free-think

ing academy for visual arts) which no longer exists. While there I followed courses in life drawing, painting and ceramic sculpture. On returning to Australia I continued making art in various forms.

Exhibition of my charcoal drawings will be on show at the Grafton Regional Gallery "French Door" gallery from Monday 10th January until 6th February. This one is Yamba Rock Platform. I love those grey days when everything looks softer, even the rock with its lovely layers and honeycomb weathering. There are nine drawings in the show, each one framed in beech under glass, measuring 108x78cm.
These are just photos of the work but it's worth seeing the real thing, so hopefully you will be able to visit the gallery sometime this month.
