Introducing Amy Stone for ROOKE's Nook 2026 line-up!

Artist. Acrobat. Mover and groover. Goof. Amy has never been satisfied sitting inside the box. Growing up on a farm on the outskirts of western Sydney, she spent her afternoons swinging around the bars of the cattle yard and trying to stand on horses. 11 years on, Amy has grown to become a richly multidisciplinary artist that refuses to be confined by genre or convention. Her work spans the full breadth of performance styles incorporating elements of dance, circus and theatre.

Go get your tickets, Amy gets hotter with every pair of clapping hands.

The most enormous congratulations to our Chair Jane Longhurst on her Churchill Fellowship.

Jane stepped up somewhat reluctantly to the role of Chair, as a forever humble powerhouse. Under her leadership we continue to navigate the rocky and unpredictable terrain of the arts through a human-centred, art first, honest and grounded lens.

Through her fellowship Jane will continue her industry leading approach to community-led and innovative theatre, specifically looking to reanimate the cultural life of Nipaluna/Hobart and Lutruwita more broadly.

We are beyond proud of Jane, and yet another win out of our beautiful island that continues to punch above our weight. A demonstration of the immense good work going on here despite the dire arts funding situation we face in our state.

We love you Jane, and bloody well done.

It is honestly so validating to have recieved an Impact award last night here in Kurilpa, on Turrbal and Jagera country for our Circus Across Tasmania program, in collaboration with TPAC. Thank you PAC Australia - APAX

Everything we do here at ROOKE is in pursuit of joy, and the joy we get to share taking small shows to small towns across Tasmania is unrivalled. Circus Across Tasmania excavated old touring routes that used to be frequented by many of the live performance legends that came before us, and we hope this pathway remains open for years to come allowing any Tasmanian the opportunity to share in this joy.

This award is for the enormous team effort across the past four years to turn Circus Across Tasmania from one cute trial week in Deloraine to a launchpad for work now embarking on a 14-week National tour in 2027.

We want to thank our partners in Tasmania's Performing Arts Centres consortium, Theatre Royal, Hobart Theatre North Burnie Arts Town Hall Theatre - paranaple arts centre - Devonport for their continued support and belief in this project, SuperSillyUs Circus for their collaboration and friendship from the very beginning, every single audience member from every single town we've visited in Tasmania (that's over 7,000 people!) but especially CYGNET for being the most adorable mustard-hued venue that hosted the world premiere of Nimble and is about to host one of the first public showings of Dream Job, the artists who have toured this route; Tony Rooke, Conor Wild, Lewie West, Mieke Lizotte, Cecilia Martin, Margot Mansfield, Jamie Bretman, Tom Oddwyn, Anisah Collins and OF COURSE our core staff Dana and Justin and prior crew Ryan and Alex.

Finally, critically, our funders Arts Tasmania RANT arts Creative Australia and all those who contributed to our 2024 fundraising campaign to add Queenstown and Flinders Island to the tour!

May this be only the beginning...
