Hi, my name is Jack Ryan and I hand-craft a range of different whips using multi-strand plaits and traditional style knots using a very high strength synthetic material. A well designed and built whip can effortlessly create a gunshot-loud crack with the flick of a wrist. Once you have learnt how to effectively crack a whip, there isn’t a more satisfying experience - in my opinion. When I first de
cided to purchase a whip and have a go at learning to use it, I bought a cheap cowhide bullwhip online for around $150. Unfortunately I was hugely let down by the shoddy workmanship and poor materials received for the sum of money I paid. The plaiting was loose, the transition resembled a wet noodle, and it took a great deal of effort to create even a measly small crack. After less than an hour’s use, the fall hitch had untied itself and revealed what was used as the bolster, electrical tape! Please don’t make the mistake I did. A synthetic whip is a fraction of the price of a properly hand-crafted kangaroo leather whip. Synthetic strands have a much higher breaking strain than leather, they are water resistant when waxed and will never rot. If you look after one of my whips, it will last a lifetime. Go on - give it a crack!
