We’ve been big fans of Yoto for years, so we’re beyond excited to share that our interactive audio adventures 'Mountain Goat Mountain' and 'The Flying Canoe' are now available on Yoto cards!

Yoto was founded in the UK by two dads from the music industry who were navigating the tug-of-war between independent play and screen time. Yoto’s values align beautifully with ours at Threshold. We were started at a similar time by two theatre-making mums passionate about making space for connective, creative experiences for families. What a match made in audio heaven!

The Yoto team is full of kind and clever people who have all been so dedicated in the work of adapting our interactive audio adventures for their platform. When we started this journey we never imagined we would one day get to see our adventures in pixel art form!

Our audiences have always visited our website to experience our audio experiences over the years, and now Yoto offers something extra: a tangible format families can return to again and again.

We are really proud to see these immersive experiences find a permanent home on such a brilliant platform. Link to purchase these new cards in comments below!

Know someone with a baby in Perth?
We're inviting parents and carers with babies under 12 months to come along to experience our intimate dance space "Glow Lounge" on Friday 27 Feb as part of the Australian Performing Arts Market.

Guided by the soulful voice of Zindzi Okenyo and the elemental beats of Zoë Barry, each family will create their own unique dance.

With mellow lighting, subdued colours, and chilled rhythms, 'Glow Lounge' is a gentle, immersive experience that encourages families to ebb and flow together, finding their shared rhythm through movement and gesture.

Attention teachers and educators: "The Flying Canoe" is now available for schools!

This interactive audio experience for students to experience in their classrooms will transport them to the nation of Kiribati – our Pacific neighbours.

Featuring an immersive soundscape, and traditional Kiribati singing and dancing, 'The Flying Canoe' is a playful way to experience the living history and the culture embedded in the lands and waters of Kiribati.

Together you’ll meet some sassy, salty spirits, fend off giant mud crabs, and dive into crystal blue waters as you work towards helping Nei Kinoia become a fully qualified magic spinner.

Along the way you’ll use classroom items to build a canoe, sing, dance and learn about life in Kiribati, while bringing a little taste of island life to your school.

'The Flying Canoe' comes with a full set of curriculum-aligned classroom activities for each primary year level, and features interactive video and audio tracks for a truly dynamic learning experience.

Written by Marita Davies, 'The Flying Canoe' is the follow-up work to Threshold’s internationally acclaimed 'Mountain Goat Mountain'.

Check out the Threshold website for more info.

Big thanks to the dream team!

Rain is in the Chicago Tribune today. We couldn't be prouder of this performance installation and the way it has managed to find its new home at Filament Theatre under the careful direction of Ellie Levine. We are so excited to hear about the ways that Chicago audiences engage with our precious work.

What a way to end the year. 🩵 RAIN: for babies and their carers has a full page feature in the today! Check out the full interview with RAIN’s North American director, , at the link in our bio!

It's Perinatal Mental Health Week
A week to raise awareness and advocate for the support families need and deserve as they start a family. PANDA and Gidget Foundation Australia both do incredible work to support new parents and carers.

Perinatal mental health is an area we are passionate about. We have been creating work for many years that aims to connect parents and carers with their babies.

Our experience Glow has been made by a group of artists and art therapists who have responded to the light and shadow of this all encompassing and challenging time.

From creating a bath-time ritual, to a poetic reflection over a cup of tea or throwing a baby dance party, Glow offers a diverse suite of experiences that hold space for deeper connection.

"Glow is warm and safe, and acknowledges my exhaustion"
“Quiet, creative moments of self care - it’s a gift!”

Glow is currently available for free via partners throughout Australia thanks to funding from Playing Australia Creative Australia - link in comments.

We’re so grateful to our partners who are helping share Glow with families across the country. Glow is currently touring through Bunbury Regional Art Gallery (WA), Eastern Riverina Arts (NSW), Country Arts SA & Yorke Peninsula Council (SA), Geelong Arts Centre & Mount Alexander Shire Council(VIC).

We’re thrilled to share some big news that just landed in American Theatre magazine...

Rain is heading to North America in 2026 with an all-US cast and creative team.

Our wonderful collaborators at Filament Theatre will debut the North American production in Chicago in January. Then in May, Rain travels to Atlanta for the Theatre for Young Audiences/USA Festival and Conference at Alliance Theatre:

This performance installation for babies and their grown-ups began quietly at ArtPlay in City of Melbourne and has been carried forward by so many hands over the years. Seeing it embraced by new artists and communities across the US is something we’re incredibly excited about.

A huge thank you to the Filament, TYA USA and Alliance teams for welcoming Rain with such care and imagination.

Tickets are now on sale for the Chicago season! https://ci.ovationtix.com/35466/production/1257564

We can’t wait to share more as this new chapter unfolds. 🌧️✨

The leading national service organization for Theatre for Young Audiences will host its next conference on May 27-29, 2026, with a wide array of performances and panels.

What happens next?
Why are things changing?

We loved spending time with tweens and their adults at our ‘In Between’ workshops in the school holidays on Taungurung Country - stepping onto an uncharted path together.

Sometimes together, sometimes apart, sometimes leading, sometimes following – families played with outlines and air-jokes, drew shapes that stretched across the floor, and found, somewhere in all that movement, the shape of together.

It was a beautiful reminder that growing up (and growing alongside) is full of light and shadow, curiosity and care.

Led by artists .meltzer, Zoë Barry, Tahli Corin and Sarah Lockwood and created with Youbi Lee. Thanks to the families who came along to map life moments together.

Thanks also to the Macedon Ranges Shire Council Macedon Ranges Arts & Culture staff for your support in the beautiful Kyneton Town Hall.

We’re delighted to share that Glow Lounge has been selected for the APAM - Australian Performing Arts Market Gathering in Boorloo/Perth, Western Australia, held for the first time on the lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation, alongside Perth Festival in late February 2026.

Glow Lounge is an intimate, 15-minute dance space for families with babies under 12 months: a rich sonic world that allows families to slow down and connect.

We’re thrilled to be sharing this work with our international colleagues and community, and to continue conversations about how sensory and digital forms can deepen connection between babies and their adults.

The APAM program is out now and delegate registrations are open!
