Feeling so grateful and blessed to still have the opportunity to perform and share the beautiful art form that is Raqs Sharqi. ❤️
I first stepped into the world of performance in Sydney nearly 20 years ago. Somewhere along that journey, I stepped away for a time to become a mum and nurture a family of my own — and returning to the stage has reminded me just how beautifully this dance belongs to women through all seasons, paths and cycles of life.
There is something incredibly special about still being able to perform each week and share with audiences the art form that captured my heart all those years ago.
As Raqs Sharqi continues to evolve and change in the modern world, I feel an even deeper responsibility to honour its roots — its musicality, femininity, emotion, elegance and soul — and to share a glimpse of the dance that I fell so deeply in love with. ❤️❤️
Nearly 20 years later, I still feel that same connection when the music begins. And being able to carry a little of that essence onto the stage for a new generation of audiences is something I will never take for granted. ❤️
