Creative.kooks "Riding the wave of sustainability, one board at a time."
🏄‍♂️We have repurposed 262 Surfboard's by turning them into works of art.

15/04/2026

Our Paint a Skateboard Workshop—funded by NSW Regional Youth and brought to you by Kiama District Stronger Community—was a huge success 💥

We had 27–28 young people roll through, which is an absolute win. The energy, creativity, and stoke in the space was next level.

Each participant walked away with:
🎨 Two packs of SurfPaints
🛹 Their very own custom skateboard

From blank decks to full-blown masterpieces, it was all about self-expression, connection, and giving young people something they can be proud of.

Big thanks to everyone who came along and made it what it was. This is what community looks like 💙

We saved a surfboard from landfill… and gave it a whole new purpose.

At our final Salty Session, this board became something special — a momento piece shaped by the people who were part of the journey. Participants added their thoughts, feelings, and reflections, capturing what the program meant to them and how it impacted their lives.

What was once headed for waste is now a story. A reminder of connection, growth, and showing up for yourself and others.

This is what Creative Kooks is all about — turning the old into something meaningful, and creating space for community to leave their mark.

From landfill to legacy 🌊✨

Rainy days call for creativity ☔🎨

Today we ran a Paint a Skateboard workshop with Shellharbour Council at Blackbutt Community Centre as part of their drop-in session. It turned out to be the perfect spot for young people to duck in out of the rain and get creative.

There were some seriously epic designs, and a few of the artworks have even been selected for Shellharbour Youth Art Week and will be displayed in the gallery at the Shellharbour Civic Centre 🙌

If you’re in the area, make sure you pop in and check them out!

Love seeing creativity come to life in the community. 🛹🎨

CUTS was epic 🌊🎬

We rolled into Cinema Under the Stars at Lake Macquarie with our Paint a Surfboard workshop and the community absolutely brought the colour.

Two more repurposed surfboards went home with some very lucky winners on the night 🙌

That takes us to 264 surfboards saved from landfill and given a second wave through creativity ♻️🎨

Massive thanks to everyone who painted, shared stories, and helped turn waste into art.
