'Art In the Dark'
'Three little Wrens'
Against a backdrop of deep cobalt blue, three cheerful wrens perch together, their tiny silhouettes cut from rusted steel and framed by twisted strands of weathered wire.
At first glance, they seem simple and playful, yet their story speaks of resilience, connection, and finding light in unexpected places.
Created from reclaimed materials, this piece reflects the beauty that can emerge from objects once discarded. The rough rusted wire, woven into a circular frame, suggests both protection and endurance - a nest of sorts, holding memories of past lives and forgotten purposes. Within this rustic embrace, the vibrant blue glows like twilight, a reminder that even in darkness there is colour, hope and possibility.
The three wrens stand side by side as companisons on life's journey. They represent friendship, community and the quiet comfort found when we face challenges together. Their bright, inquisitive nature brings a sense of joy and optimism, encouraging us to notice the small wonders that surround us every day.
for 'Art in the Dark', this work explores the idea that light is not always something we see - it can also be something we feel. It can be found in shared laughter, in companionship, and in the ability to transform hardship into beauty.
Through rust, wire, timber and steel, I invite you to discover that even the humblest materials can tell stories of hope, resilience and renewal.
"Sometimes the brightest light comes from the smallest things - three little wrens perched together, facing the dark with courage and song"
This Creative piece will be heading across to the Wandoan State School and will be auctioned during their evening of 'Art"
As a past parent of the school it has given me a lot of joy to create this special piece for their auction.
